  3. GX Works2 & MX OPC Server 6.10 issue

Hello! What i am about to do is connecting an external SCADA system to a Mitsubishi PLC via OPC server. I have already made some FBs and included their instances in a program in GX Works2, then started a GX Simulator2 and connected it to an OPC Server. From the OPC configurator I have defined some tags with their corresponding device addresses (e.g. D12345). I am using structured variables which device addresses i am entering in the OPC configurator. Tried to make some full rebuild compiling and at first was happy that the devices remain unchanged. The main problem is that after some time this devices change which completely ruined my experiment. Maybe there is some point that I am missing or there is just no way to use a fully functional SCADA connected that way to the Mitsubishi PLC (by OPC)? The question is is there a way to tell a particularly used instance of a function block to have exactly the same device addresses ever.

  6. Hello All,   I am would like to know how to send a bit from an excel file to an omron PLC through CX-server in order to confirm that I have communication and the excel file is open.   At the moment I am reading data from the PLC on the Excel file no problem but I don't know how to do it on the other way.   I am attaching the code I have written and the excel file. So the idea is having a cell with a 1 and reading this value as a bit ON on the PLC.   Thank you very much in advance I really  appreciate it. :)
  7. Hello All,   I am having some issues with Excel while communicating with the Omron PLC. 10. Control Valve

Hi, Please I am new to PLCs & SCADA. I will appreciate if someone can explain what it means by The inlet valve will be actuated by the SCADA  system via two 24V DC digital outputs. Why is it using two 24V DC digital output. Is this because it is a solenoid two way valve?   Thanks
  11. I have been tasked with pointing our FT View application to a remote SQL server for all data logging.  I'm having some issues getting this to happen.  I've configured everything I can find in our test environment, but FT View still points to the local SQL Server instance.  There must be a setting I'm missing.   For instance, when i go to Tools -> Diagnostics Setup -> Destination Setup -> ODBC Database, and I point to the system DSN I've created pointing to the remote server (and even enter the correct remote credentials), when i create a table, it goes to the local sql server instance... I've restarted multiple times.   Any direction would be appreciated.
  12. Hie, I am from a power utility company with almost 100% SCADA-ready facilities. the next challenge is trying to convert all these overwhelming site information into ACTIONABLE infos. The idea is to establish a dedicated centre (NOT a control centre) as a Monitoring Master Station and also as the Real-Time Asset Management and Predictive Maintenance tool. Question: Anyone can share experience/review on suitable Software and Hardware for such Master Station? If possible, inclusive of Front End module/ Historian/ Database Server/ Intelligent Software for input logics, etc.

  14. In general, this control PLC program is written in GX Works. I did a simple visualization on TIA Portal v14 (WinCC RT Advanced) and I would like to now test it on Mitsubishi FX3U driver with ENET Module. I do not have much experience in this kind of thing, I'm still learning. I know that someone previously made a visualization in LabView and downloaded the tags from the PLC using NI OPC Server. Someone also did visualization in iFix and also downloaded tags through server opc. I do not know just how or what program to download tags in PLC so that I can no longer use it in visualization in TIA Portal. Unfortunately I still have a connection problem. The driver is connected to the router. From the connection options with RT Advanced I chose in the connections tab Mitsubishi and entered the appropriate IP. Still nothing. I do not know if the lack of a connection can be related to a virtual machine (VM Vare Workstation 12) on which I have TIA Portal installed. The driver pings but can not connect. I also tried using KEPServer EX to connect and unfortunately also failed. (I have information about the can not connect). Anyone know what program I should use? or had contact with such a problem? I attach a photo of communication from my station to more visualize the problem. Thanks

  19. I have an application in the Visu+ Scada System, from Phoenix Contact, which makes a query in the SQL Server 2014 database. While the database was empty, queries were made perfectly, after 4 months the database grew up absurdly and then stopped running the query, returning the following error: Query timeout exceeded. I have a general table with 210 variables being written every 20 seconds. The query is made by updating the parameters in another single row table, it generates a trigger that copies the requested query to a third table and it is plotted on a chart in the supervisory system. The error occurs when Visu+ sends the parameters to be updated in the second table, returning "Query timeout exceeded.". However, when I update directly through SQL Server, it updates, generates the trigger and performs the requested query. Could someone help me solve this timeout problem, please? Thank you very much in advance!!

  21. Step7 on remote server

Hi, I was wondering if anyone have experience with Tia Portal Step7 v.14 and Step7 Classic v.5.5 located on a remote server? We have several persons working on our PLC's. As it is they all have their own PC with Step7 + licenses. We were thinking about moving the software environment onto a server to reduce license and maintenance costs. Does anyone else have this setup? If yes do you have any tips or comments? Pros/cons? I already know now that you cannot autodetect/configure new devices from a remote server as the Step7 detection protocol doesn't work through a router. We can live with that. We need both TIA Portal and the Step7 Classic on the same server. Thanks
  22. GE IFIX Server Client connectiom

I want to make a setup of one Ifix 5.5 server and  one Ifix  5.5 client for testing purpose.  This is for doing some alarms and events testing at the client( Operator Workstation) end. My question is that is it possible to do this setup without a valid license. Is it possible to establish the connection between server and client without license..? Regards Eby
  23. Quick Panel (TCP model) Upload

Hello All, I have an older Total Control Quick Panel QPI2D100L2P 10.4 inch Monochrome that I am trying to retrieve the program on. The original programmer is unknown and we do not have a copy of the program. The screen has gone out on this panel.I am using quickdesigner on an XP virtual machine. I have the correct programming cable the 8 pin DIN connector HMI-CAB-C49-JWhen I connect to the HMI, The software "sees" that the HMI is connected and says "waiting for the Display to be ready" then times out and tells me "the display is Hung" and another message "Turn display OFF" when I turn it off the software gives me the message "Turn Display ON" then when I turn it on, the software goes to "waiting for the Display device to be ready" and just sit there. Nothing more. I have waited for 20 mins for it to progress and nothing. At first I thought maybe the Panel that I am working on is just bad. However I get the same indications on another, same model, quick panel that IS working just fine. I know this is older stuff. And ProFace Support (who took over making the replacements from TCP) wont support using quick designer on anything other than a Win 2K machine or older. Anyone have experience with these panels?
