  1. Hello, I'm currently researching Rockwell controllers for our PLC implementation, but there are some aspects I couldn't find in the manuals.  I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide more details on the following: ①Procedure for Adding Modules Online: In the manual "1756-um001p-en-p," it mentions the possibility of adding units online.  However, I couldn't find specific instructions on how to do this.  For instance, with I/O modules, I assume it's as simple as physically attaching them to the chassis using RIUP,  but I'm unsure about the software side (e.g., Logix5000) and any operations required on the controller itself. ②Online Module Addition for Remote I/O: The manual mentions that EtherNet/IP modules can be added online. Would it be possible in either of the following scenarios?  ②-1 Adding I/O modules to the chassis of an existing remote I/O station.  ②-2 Creating a new remote station. Our investigation has hit a roadblock, and we're in quite a quandary.  If you have any information on these matters, your guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
  2. FINS for Online Edition

Hi, Does anyone know how to do an online edition using FINS commands? Thank you!
  3. Hi gentlemen, I have I bottle capping machine and I'm reading the torque value from one of the Sureservo2 drives. As the bottles pass through the machine, I need to display the peak torque value and hold it until the next bottle passes through. This machine could run up to 100 bottles a minute. I would also like to display a 10 bottle peak torque average. Does anyone know of a good way to do this? Any help would be appreciated.
  4.  We have been tasked with saving money on equipment within our 4 plants here in the USA. I would like to investigate using low cost HMI's, I've had great success using C-more in the past. Has anyone had any of the several low cost HMI's attached to Emerson PAC (AKA GE Prophecy) PLC's? has there been any connectivity issues? I'd like to try one to replace the Emerson HMI's which are hard to source, and expensive. I believe any time setting up a low cost option would offset the cost of the Emerson, and open up our choices of HMI's and not be boxed in to one brand. We also use Profinet along with Ethernet connection, I believe the Emerson HMI only uses Ethernet (for us) but if there is a Profinet version that is easy to set up, that would make it an easy sale for me.   This HMI would also have to work with the older 90-30 series PLC's, but i'm pretty sure the communications have not changed much from the to the stand alone RSTi-EP and RX3i PLC's. Any advice would be appreciated.  Have a great week.
  5. Hello all,   I am working on a batch computer for a concrete mixer, and the computer that was running the plant before has stopped functioning. It was an old PC running MS DOS. The code is encrypted and replacing it is not a cost effective option.   I therefore am looking into using a PLC to control this batch plant. I have a setup that was in progress by another employee who no longer works for us, it is a CLICK PLC from Automation Direct, and it is supposed to be paired with a EA9 T8CL touch screen HMI from the same company. I would like some advice on just some basics, I would greatly appreciate some input.   I essentially only have one input, and that is an analog scale, 0-20mA input. I have digital outputs for sand, gravel, cement powder, and a water meter for adding water to the mixture. I have one final output, an additive for reducing the required water in the concrete.   What I would like to create is a program that when it is told to start, looks at the scale, and if the scale is less than say 100 pounds, opens sand until it hits 1700 pounds (as an example), then turns it off. Then it turns on the gravel and adds that for another 1700 (again for example, all these are variable), turning the gravel off after. Next the cement, and so on. I don’t need someone to write the program for me, but can someone point me in the right direction on using an analog input to turn digital outputs on and off? Again, your help would be greatly appreciated.   Thanks for taking the time to read this long post.
  6. controller is not coming online with rslogix 5000, but i can ping the ip from the pc. getting the error message says "controller failed to come online - error 701-8004250B" appreciate ur help.
  7. I am trying to online edit a program in a MELSEC QCPU, using GX Works2, but I keep getting this error "A file which does not exist in the PLC was specified" <ES:010a4022> Few weeks ago I had just online edited the same program in the same PLC with the same steps with no problem. There had been no changes to the PLC after that. Just all a sudden when I try to edit yesterday I get this error. Not an expert in Mitsubishi, just started learning the basics. Connection to PLC is by USB cable. Steps I followed to connect to PLC:    -Online > Read from PLC    -Select PLC Series: QCPU (Q mode)    -Select PLC side I/F Serial Setting: Serial USB    -Select all target program to Read, then Execute I am editing the file that I had just read from PLC Steps I followed to online edit:    -Online > Monitor > Monitor (Write mode)    -Execute the function below when mode is changed: Checked all    -Edit the program (basically just deleted one -||- contact and drew back the line)    -Compile > Online Program Change Then Bam! error get! "A file which does not exist in the PLC was specified" <ES:010a4022> I had tried Verify with PLC, but all results match. Is there something I am missing? Help much appreciated!
  8. CP1L Unknown IP

Hello. I have CP1L EM30 with unknown IP. I have tried to use "Direct Ethernet Connection" with "Network Browser" but with no success. I have manually set the ethernet IP4 address to 192.168.20.20 / 255.255.255.0 I've got error: "The OMRON Ethernet Direct Connection Manager service is starting in Safe Mode because Windows APIPA is enabled. (0x82020003)Omron.Cxmw.Modules.SystemLibrary.SysLibException" The PLC does NOT have default ip 192.168.250.1. What Can I do? Please help. Thanks. BR, Andrej.
  9. Dear Mr. PLC forum members, I am brand new to the world of PLC’s and I am looking for advice on PLC platform selection for a device prototype. The proposed PLC is for a “smart” hydroponic system. Please see system I/O and other parameters below. Parameter 1: Price - I am self-funding this so price of PLC and software is important. Happy to spend ~$2000 for PLC; I/O cards and related hardware. Total prototype cost is around $15,000 including PLC. Parameter 2: Availability & Support in Australia. Parameter 3:Newbie Friendly: I intend to code the PLC myself and have never coded a thing in my life before.  Parameter 4:Discrete Outputs: 11; Discrete Inputs: 0; Analog Outputs: 2-3; Analog Inputs: 9  Parameter 5: Capability to extend to IOT for remote access control and monitoring (via cellular or wifi router)   As you can see, this is a relatively simple automation project. All my research seems to point to Automation Direct’s BRX PLC but I just wanted to get some suggestions and feedback before purchasing. Anything else that might suit my needs? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Bruce
  10. I will work on Q2A series Mitsubishi which seems to be around 20 years old. And wondering if I can connect directly to RS-422 (25 pin D sub) (picture below) port on the CPU module? As far as I understand from the manual this port can be accessed only by a Mitsubishi programming module (Q6CPU)? The only alternative I can see from the I/O Devices is that there is A1SJ7QC24 which I assume is used for HMI, in this case I could possibly connect to RS-485 or RS-232C channel (depending which one is free). My question is by connecting to QC24 module would I be able to make my modifications online? Thanks, Tom

  17. Cannot get Online - CPM2C

Hello Ladies and Gents, Im quite new to working with Omron. I am struggling very much to get online with an Omron CPM2C-S110C. It has a CIF01 card also. I hear this PLC is quite an old one. I have referenced the manual on 'connecting a computer running support software' and double checked I have the correct cables. The ones I am using and the way I am connecting is:-   PLC Peripheral slot >> CS1W-CN118 >> XW2Z-200S-CV >> serial to USB >> Laptop Checking on Device Manager, I have all the drivers installed, the comms ports are correctly numbered yet I still cannot connect. There are 4 dip switches on the top right hand side of the CPU and all are swiched off. I have called Omron Tech Support and they said to ignore them in this instance. The RS232C port on the CIF01 is used by a barcode scanner so there is no means to connect through that (I have been told) I feel that I have been through setting and checked in CX-Programmer and nothing looks obscure. Please offer me any ideas you may have. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.
  18. Hello all, hoping for some help with an issue we currently have. We have a stationary unit provided by an automation company which is controlled by an Omron CP1E PLC unit. We have just purchased and installed the latest CX-One software with key etc as we are aiming to make modifications to the machine. When connected to the PLC via USB the drivers install however we get an error message when viewing the driver properties stating windows is unable to verify the digital signatures. When attempting to connect via USB direct online we get a failed to connect to PLC error.  We have tried updating the drivers but it states the most up to date drivers are installed. Also tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers. Anyone able to offer any advice? We have no experience with Omron so unsure if there is something we are missing. Thanks!

  20. B&R 2005 CPU troubleshooting

Hello everyone, Could someone help me out with the basics of Automation Studio 2.7...? I'm able to transfer the ''operation runtime'' to a IF260 CPU, however going online and transferring the project is a challenge. What is the correct way to go online and monitor the CPU, and also to retrieve the existing program out of the CPU? Your sincerely,

  22. GX Works 2

Hello everyone! Can anyone suggest to take all the Input and Output (digital) status at a time in a single file for backup in gx works2 in FX2N PLC. I need to confirm that all required IO are in perfect condition before start operating the machine. Also I plan to design a troubleshooter to find problem.
  23. Gang, Hooking up an Automation Direct P2-32TD2P to an AC/DC LED and noticed the LED is always "on" a little bit. When the output is on, the LED is certainly on, but when the output is off the LED is still on by a fractional amount, not much but it's plainly noticeable the room lights are off. The CPU can be in Stop, no matter, power just has to be on. I think this has to do with the card's load disconnected error functionality. +24V and some fraction of amps is always present at the output whether the output is on or off. I talked with automation people at work who noted there is an Allen Bradley system that does the same thing, it caused them a problem, they had to use a relay or etc to make an off output actually be off. Has anyone dealt with this? I'm new to the Productivity software, but there doesn't seem to be a way to just turn it off in the IDE. It seems ridiculous to have to wire up transistors or relays just to have off be off. Thanks for any ideas.

  25. C-More Recipes

Hi everyone, I am using an EA9 touch panel from automation direct. I am using C-more's "call recipe" function to create and write new recipes, inputted by the user. My problem is that every time I make a change in C-more and send it to the panel, I lose all of the recipes created by the user because they are over written by the ones (there and not there) in my recipe database, on my computer. Now, I know this can be avoided by just uploading from the panel to start with. But inevitably, I will forget to do that one day. I would like to store the recipes on an SD card, so that they will not be lost when I make changes to the program. Has anyone done this before? Is it possible?
