  1.   Hi guys.   On our company we got several different PLC system but right now I´m focusing on a Mitsubishi Q-system with device-net master QJ71DN91.      We are going to make communication with SMC-JXCD1 controller for a actuator.   But I have no experience with DeviceNet and unfortunately there is no files, functionblock, or program examples what I can find.  Not even Mitsubishi or SMC had some for these two together so I turning the Question into this forum instead😊   Previously I´ve used profibus on a fx3U system and FX5U-Simple CPU communication protocol to talk with slaves in a network.    I got on hold of some old document from Beijer from where I got 3 functionblocks for devicenet.    1.DnInitiateQ  2. DnSupervisorQ 3. DnDataQ 4. DnMessageQ     So maybe I can have some help from these but I´m still not sure how to send/receive information to the SMC-nodes.   I´m a little confused about if I should use the master with I/O communication or  master with explicit messages?  The later I haven´t even heard of.    I was only thinking about creating array of word to receive and send info to the nodes.   But my knowledge of this communication protocol is very low.        Anyone know´s how to get me started?  Or can provide some kind of example in GX IEC or GX works.
  2. We have a devicenet network that consist of a compact 1769-SDN, 20+ PoweFlex 40 drives, and a couple compact I/O blocks.  Recently drives have been faulting randomly F71.  This has not been an issue in the past.  Drives fail occasionally and we swap them with a same HP drive.  We use a him copycat to upload and download parameters.     The DeviceNet power supply is separated from other power and has been replaced recently to rule it out.  The Network 120 ohm resistors are installed at the network’s beginning and end. The Network wiring has been inspected.    Has any experienced anything similar?    Thanks!
  3. Hello! I am working on a quote for a new project that will use EtherCAT but also requires DeviceNet for some legacy components.  Has anyone successfully used the Beckhoff EtherCAT coupler (EK1100) with the DeviceNet Master Terminal (EL6752) and an Omron PLC as the EtherCAT master? My concern is that the coupler will only communicate with the Beckhoff EtherCAT master, but since it is so much more expensive to get the new Omron parts to communicate DeviceNET i am hoping this could be an option.  The equipment is extremely simple and price is a major consideration.   Thank you!!!
  4. I have a devicenet network with a compactlogix L35E and  a 1769 scanner in the main cabinet and a 1769 adn/b module in another cabinet that originally got burned, it was replaced with another adn module with same revision as the original but can't connect on the network, I can see the scanner but nothing else when I scan the devicenet network with both rslinx and rsnetworx. I'm also seeing fault 79 on the scanner. Any suggestions on how to approach this? I read that most issues relate to hardware, as in wiring, terminator resistors and power supply grounding but I already checked all that.  Any help is very much appreciated.
  5. Hi, I previously posted about connecting an Omron HMI to a PLC via DeviceNet.  I have managed to get them set up via CX-Integrator.  Now I am having trouble understand the shared input/output data as it pertains to controlling the PLC (CJ2H) program and vice versa (PLC program controlling the HMI.)  If, for instance, I pick a memory location, let's say W300 in the Work Area of memory, and set a toggle on the HMI to control it, it doesn't actually affect the program.  Likewaise, if I set a toggle in the PLC program to match the Controller work area memory and set it on/off, it doesn't actually change the HMI.  I have only been able to get some "artifacts" of string data to communicate one-way, one time.  Any help is appreciated!
  6. Hi, I have an Omron NSJ5-SQ00B-M3D Programmable Terminal (HMI) that I am trying to get to communicate with an Omron CJ2H PLC through a DeviceNet module (DRM21) in the main PLC rack.  I don't see how to configure CX-Designer to communicate via DeviceNet.  How is this done?  Many thanks for any help.
  7. Hey guys, I've check out some of the forums surrounding the G3 Numatics and haven't stumbled upon anything that sounds quite like the issue we're experiencing.   Here's the scenario: We have a G3 Numatics with DeviceNet comms to a Compact logix. We have replaced the input module (PN: 240-205, same firmware as old) and the communication module (PN: 240-180). The Rx is supposed to auto adjust to 9, but we keep getting the factory defualt of 6. It's as if it's not reading the Input module. We can observe the inputs change state on the input module itself, but we get nothing reporting back to the PLC. When we put the Rx to 9 Manually we get rid of the error 77 on the PLC, but still have no indication of state change from G3 to PLC. There are no errors on either the G3 mods or the PLC. We have contacted ASCO and Rockwell and we are still down. Has anybody seen this issue before?   Thank you in advance for you time, Eric     This is what we're supposed to see in NetWorx, but it resets to 6 produced and we lose the Part number on station 1. We're still losing the part number. We've also tried downloading the part number to it, but it loses it immediately.

  10. i'm trying to interface a 1756-dnb to a couple devices. i've got the rsnetworx configuration complete and dowwnloaded to the device. when i go online in studio 5000, the scanner is faulted out. the code is "16#0108 connection request error: connection type (multicast/unicast) not supported". what could be going on here? i'm using an l72s cpu and a 1756-dnb/a on the local chassis
  11. Hi Everyone So at work I've recently had to replace an HMS AB7607 ethernet/devicenet gateway on one of our older networks. The older device was a AB7607-B ( rev1.8 ) and the new device was a AB7607-C (rev 2.4), the new device accepted the old config through RSNetworx for devicenet without any issues. But what i found is that I was now getting code16#0109  Connection Request error: Invalid Connection Size on the gateway in my IO tree in rslogix. None of the mapping in the gateway has changed the only way i could get it to connect and get the fault to clear was increase the input and output sizing to maximum (as seen in the attached pics). This then created the issue of intermittent comms dropouts on the scanner so i had to issue increase the RPI from 50ms to 100ms. which i shouldn't have to do as the network is fairly small with only 5 nodes made up of 3 encoders and 2 IO modules. The network is now running but occasionally all three encoders will flat line this has only begun to happen  since the change out,  i've checked the network with a scope and the signal looks fine and i've checked all device taps, powertaps and end of line resistors which are all fine. The only thing i can think of which would cause this issue is me maxing out the input/output word sizing and the increase in the RPI.   So my question is how can i reduce the word sizing  back to only grab the data i require as when  i change the values from anything lower than the max size input output  I run into the word sizing fault again. I've ensured that everything is matching up ie SINTS are being used in the scanner and PLC so there's no mismatches.  Ive gone over the manual and i can see anything why i would event need to increase the word sizing after the upgrade. Is anyone able to help?
  12. Mitsubishi PLC devicent configuration

Dear sir,                We are having Mitsubishi FX5U-32MT PLC with us currently used for welding automation. For further development I want to connect Mitsubishi PLC to device net. We are using new fronius welding power source which is having devicenet. Kindly suggest if the existing plc will be suitable for connecting to devicenet or do we require additional module.
  13. DeviceNet problem CJ2M-CPU31

Hi, I am trying to set up a remote IO exercise using CJ2M-CPU31/CJ1W-DRM21-> GRT1-DRT with little success. Started with setting up Comms, making Routing table, downloading Routing table, Connecting to DeviceNet in lower left window in CX-Integrator, Devicenet appears in the project and  DRM in the right window. From then anything I try to do with the DRM responds with communication error. I got no NS leds, E2 in the DRM and flashing TS on the GRT. I have done the same thing with a CS1 and a CJ1M-CPU11-ETN with almost no problems. Only difference being that with CJ2M I had to start Integrator first, same results with Ethernet, Ethernet FINS/TCP and Direct online USB. The DRMs/DRTs are donated second hand units, so might have some inherited settings? Any suggestions? Geir Update: Actually had two problems, one of the IO-slices in the GRT was faulty and blocked communication. CX-Integrator only seem to work with CJ2M in Auto online USB or USB (Toolbus). Geir
  14. I have a devicenet network with slc 05 module 1747 sdn and two flex io systems with 1794adn adapters.  After a thunderstorm where lightning struck us near the facility The 1747sdn module had an indicator LED flashing in red and error code 91. I connected to the network through 1784 u2dn to be able to configure from RSnetworks, but the program only saw the Flex io, not the 1747sdn module. According to the manual, a resistance of 60 ohms must be measured between the blue and white wire, when measuring with the instrument it gave me 120 ohms, which seems to indicate that a resistance was missing at one of the ends, so I placed a resistance of 120 ohms in the end of the devicenet module, to get the 60 recommended measure. The module was kept with an error code 91 So I decided to change it for another card, when changing the card the module indicator LED was no longer in red but it was impossible for me to communicate with the card through Rsnetworx. The other two nodes of the devicenet network had to be disconnected so that I could see the module in the RS networks. I loaded the configuration of a similar network previously saved in the computer, but when connecting the other nodes of the network to load the scan list the network fell and I could not continue with the configuration of the module and now i can not see any node from Rsnetworx.
  15. Issue suddenly began about 3 weeks ago...or I noticed it anyway. I opened devicenet to change a parameter in a drive but all nodes have a question mark on them and RSNetworks will not register them no matter what I do. I checked RSLinx and I see question marks on The DNB/E modules and on the EN2T/D modules. I made sure I had the eds files and AOI's for these modules but nothing changes. I have uninstalled Networx and changed versions several times but it comes up the same way. I am using RSLinx version 4.10 and now have RSNetworx version 28. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  16. Hello forum! I'm using AB Compactlogix 1769 L35E CPU energized by 1769-PA2 power supply which is also supplying to 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner, both via backplane. Trying to build a simply DN network connecting the scanner to a Balluff BNI DNT-104-000-Z004, which is a 16 PNP digital input block, since is only input module I rely that no extra power supply will be required. The problem is that when connecting both scanner and input block via my DN thick cable (Balluff BCC07YY), the input module does not energize. In fact I got no voltage reading when measuring voltage between scanner V+ and V- terminals. I measured voltage at 1769-PA2 power supply DC output (which is not in use) and its providing 24VDC, also scanner is powered on so I do not think the problem could be power supply nor backplane. Scanner display shows 92 number, scanner manual says that 92 error is "no devicenet power" and has the following description: No network power detected on DeviceNet port. Provide network power. Make sure the module drop cable is providing the proper power to the DeviceNet port. Which I do not get, is not the power supply from 1769-PA2 via backplane enough?  Is not the scanner supposed to provide voltage to the network? I've no grounding connection connected to PE yet (just between devices GND terminals)... is that a problem for testing this small network? It will be done soon but now I'm waiting for cable material. Actually I'm online using Studio5000 and have 1769-SDN DeviceNet scanner device declared at the project, there is no warning nor major fault displayed from the software. Thanks for reading.
  17. Hi all I have this problem that has been bothering me for months. I have a DRT1-AD04H connected to C200hw-drm21 as a master. The signal to the drt is 4-20 ma which is fed from a conductivity sensor. I checked the signal and at the output of the sensor and the input of the DRT1 and it is ok. It changes according to the changes in the process. I am also able to force the output signal of the conductivity sensor.   My problem is that the reading on the IR Memory is showing maximum reading with some variations  always. The bit 15 changes to 1 when I remove the sensor from the process which should be 4 mA. But I haven't tried to force 4 mA. I have tried to replace by DRT2-AD04H but no luck. The only change was that it always show maximum reading with no variations and no matter what I do.   I have checked the broken wires LED "not led for my input"  and the PIN settings. I'm not using a software configrator. I also checked the terminal resistor. Also there are no NS or MS errors. I'm sure I'm checking the right address because I'm monitoring the change from SCADA and the PLC memory as well.
  18. We have a Micrologix 1500 with 1769 Sdn. The scanner is showing error 80. The run program switch is in the run position and the run led is on. How does a 1769 scanner end up in idle mode? This unit has been running for 5 years. No programming has occurred to the plc or scanner since install.
  19. Devicenet module

Hi everyone  I have a question with the programming of the devicenet module (QJ71DN91) for mitsubishi i don't know how to update the eds files for the slaves, could anyone help me?
  20. Hi all,I am new to AB world and particulary to RSNetWorx. A customer asked me to program a SmartGuard 600 with safety point I/O and standard I/O. I can't figure how to configure I/O of the standard I/O.Here is the material :1 x 1752-L24BBBE1 x 1734-PDN4 x 1734-IB8S1 x 1734-OB8S3 x 1734-OB8I managed to configure safety I/O, but I need some help to configure the standard I/O. I am not able to use them in the logic.Anyone already done this kind of configuration ?Any help will be appreciate
  21. First of all im using a softlogix 5860 processor connected via 1784 PCIDS card to the 1794 devicenet adapter. my first module is a 16 bit DC input followed by a 16 bit output and finally my 2channel input/ 2 channel output. I can write code in 5000 for the digital IO's just fine and i have the .dnt file setup correctly with all lights green and i can see voltage change from rsnetworks when i monitor the input from the 1794 ADN (setup for 0-5v). From the reading i've done, i know i have to use block transfer msg and there is a sample file included with the version of rslogix that i have but its setup with different controllers and adapters. I've read anything i can get my hands on online from rockwell but the docs on these adapters only show the setup example using the ethernet IP version. in the ethernet IP version you can right click on the 1794 IP adapter in rslogix 5000 and add the module.... you cannot do this using the devicenet adapter. I can include my basic logix file but theres not much to it since I have no idea where to go from here. If anyone has ANY experience with this i would be forever greatful thanks in advance.ANALOG.zip
  22. Greetings, I'm about to begin a new job taking on a major operation drive by controllogix processors and tons of flex I/O modules.... its a big plant and a huge job to take on, and while i have alot of other automation experience and programing experience in other types of controllers i'm just learning PLC programing. The Good News is i have RSLOGIX 500 with a micrologix 1500 and RSLOGIX 5000 with a softlogix 5800 controller, a 1784 PCIDS devicenet scanner and a 1794 adapter with 16bit dc input a 16bit dc output and a 1794-IF2XOF2I 2 channel output 2 channel input to learn with. I have set the devicenet system up without the analog module, figured out rsnetworks enough to be able to write simple code enough to toggle outputs using the inputs.... the problem starts when i add the analog module. If i let rsnetworks scan on its own it finds the analog module but sets the I/O summary as 4input words (2 for the adapter and 2 for the digital input module) and 4 output words (2 for the digital output module and 2 for the analog module) however, it will not allow you to browse down to the bit level in the IO summary. IF however i go into the I/O summary of the 1794 and hit the defaults button it sets the input words to 5 (I/O only) and output words to 3(I/O only) If i download this to both the 1794 and the 1784 scanner my IO light goes red on the adapter and i get the errors listed in the log at the bottom of one of the screenshots im including. Anyone have any experience with this? anyone know what I should set the Input word / output word size to or what else i could be doing wrong? thanks so much in advance.
  23. 1749 SDN device net scanner in control logic. How to upload device net file from scanner through ethernet connection. Anyone can show me how? thanks.
  24. Hello everyone, I need to modify furnace ladder diagram to take control of the upper PID limit. The temperature on the furnace is controlled using PID. There is master PLC CJ1GCPU45SP which communicates several slaves CJ1MCPU13. It looks that all the PID parameters are send from the master to slaves over DeviceNet using seven DRM21 modules installed on extension rack. I can see where the values for the PID are entered on the HMI and moved to new location in the master but I don't understand why they are not placed in memory locations used by DeviceNet by default as per DRM-21 manual ( which if I understand correctly are D30000 to D31599). Is it because the DRM21 are mounted on extension rack? I will list all the upper limit locations in master, it is a long list but hopefully will help in resolving this issue: HMI entry location Moved to location in the ladder D16401 __________________ D32023 D16403 __________________ D32047 D16405 __________________ D32071 D16407 __________________ D32095 D16409 __________________ D32323 D16411 __________________ D32347 D16413 __________________ D32371 D16415 __________________ D32395 D16417 __________________ D32623 D16419 __________________ D32647 D16421 __________________ D32671 D16423 __________________ D32695 D16425 __________________ D29923 D16427 __________________ D29947 D16428 __________________ D31723 D16429 __________________ D31756 D16430 __________________ D31757 D16431 __________________ D31758 After they are moved to the D3xxxx location they are not used anymore anywhere in the master PLC so I am assuming they are transmitted over to be used in slaves. Is my reasoning correct? How can I calculate address space used by each DRM-21 card to make sure I am understanding what is transferred where? Thank you.
  25. I'm new to Omron, and after several days of diving into manuals trying to figure this out on my own and giving myself a headache I've come to accept that i need help. my task is the following: Control of the discrete and analog inputs/outputs in a DeviceNet system using an Omron CJ1M PLC’s and PT’s. Use at least one thermocouple, one analog input, and one analog output for the DeviceNet network. Use a pushbutton and a light for the start of the process and an indicator for the started process. I have a Drt1-Ad04 input, a Drt1-ad02 output, and a Drt1-ts04t temperature control. My devicenet is Cj1w-drm21, The Omron system itself is a cj1m-cpu13 etn21. I have node addresses for my input, outputs and temperature control, those being 35 for input, 25 or 30 for output and for temperature control 5, 15, or 20. The ip address im using for this project is 142.214.143.9I'm using Cx programmer, Designer and Integrator. On Cx programmer I've managed to create an IO table but i have no idea on how to begin the program or even get a current reading from my generator. On Designer I've made what i believe to be the layout of the pushbuttons, I just have no idea of what addresses to enter. And on integrator i'm having troubles on figuring out how to make a routing table. I've went through many manuals and either i'm missing something really basic here or I just have no idea on what I'm doing. The only advice I was given was to dive into more manuals and find my addresses for my inputs, outputs, and temperature or to find the information from an outside source be that a forum or customer service. I am able to provide more information, and screenshots of what I have done if needed. Any kind of help would be greatly appreciated!
