  1. Hi Everyone,I have a customer that needs a CQM1H (CPU51) replaced. They purchased the processor new-old-stock from a source they found online. It arrived in the original packaging and had the safety label around the top of the unit, so it seems that it is as advertised and no need to suspect that it would have problems. I purchased secondhand, a power supply to attach to it and program it from the bench instead of in the machine. The customer also provided me with an SD card containing the project file(s) for the machine. I am able to load the project in CX-ONE (running on Win 7) just fine. My computer has a native serial port (COM1) and I built a programming cable to work with the DB9 peripheral port according to a diagram I found online. The processor powers up right away with the ERR/ALM continuously on. No other LEDs came on initially, and after a bit of playing around with communications settings, I finally landed the right protocol and my computer seemed to identify the processor correctly. I compiled the source and attempted a transfer to the PLC. I got some failed message (or maybe messages) at the end of the transfer. It did seem to send all of the binary code, it just ended with an error message that I unfortunately didn't write down or grab a screenshot.Anyway, what I have now is a PLC processor with the ERR/ALM LED on always, I've never seen it in RUN mode, and now after the programming attempt, I'm seeing the COMM LED strobing at about a .5sec frequency (with or without a cable attached to the peripheral port), AND I cannot get CX-Programmer to again acknowledge the processor anymore. I'd like to reset this back to the way it arrived to me, but can't figure out how to make that happen offline. The DIP switches don't seem to cause that effect. I should say also that the DIP switch settings are all OFF except 3 and 7.Any help is much appreciated! Thanks,John
  2. Emerson Unidrive SP

Has anyone ever used CTSoft for connecting to Emerson VFD’s.  I need help understanding the type of cable needed to make this connection.  I called technical support and they said you don’t need their CT-usb necessarily…but a ftdi chip set rs232 to rj45 is required.  I ordered 2 different styles on AMAZON and will try them next week, but I am confused on the topic.  1.  Has anyone ever connected to these types of drives with a 3rd party cable?   2.  How does the serial port on the front of the drive look identical to an RJ485 Ethernet and plugs in with a standard Ethernet but you cannot talk to this drive with a standard usb-rj45 connection?    3.  An Allen Bradley serial converter 1203-usb with a rj45 doesn’t communicate either, the CTSoft recognizes the cable but no communication is established.  This really confused me since I know the answer to question 1 could be the pin out is different.    4.  Does anyone know a pin out to make this connection even if I have to splice a serial and Ethernet cable together?    thanks, tommie—[ ]—dont—[ / ]—be—(L)—(U)—ground
  3. Hi, First of all, thanks in advance for those who support and advises. I have a Modbus/TCP operational network as shown below. However, at any 1 time only 1 LAN is able to communicate instead of both LAN networks of the device. In another system with S.E Premium Unity PLC, both LAN networks are able to communicate at the same time. Thus, I would like to enquire if this is a limitation of Quantum NOE 771 whereby only 1 LAN can communicate at any one time or whether I have missed out any parameter/configuration settings? Any issue on the IP address configurations? Please advise. Thank you very much for the advise and assistance.
  4. OS: Windows 7 on VMware virtual machine. Sysmac Studio V 1.13. What works: Ping to PLC. Sysmac Studio -> Controller -> Controller Communications -> Ethernet via hub -> Test -> "OK". What doesn't work: Starting with new project for NX701-1600 (correct PLC): Sysmac Studio -> Controller -> Online. -> Controller -> Transfer ... -> From Controller. The task seems to run to about 90% before stopping with the error:  I can't find any reference to this error in the manuals. Has anyone got any suggestions to fix this?   Many thanks.
  5. I will work on Q2A series Mitsubishi which seems to be around 20 years old. And wondering if I can connect directly to RS-422 (25 pin D sub) (picture below) port on the CPU module? As far as I understand from the manual this port can be accessed only by a Mitsubishi programming module (Q6CPU)? The only alternative I can see from the I/O Devices is that there is A1SJ7QC24 which I assume is used for HMI, in this case I could possibly connect to RS-485 or RS-232C channel (depending which one is free). My question is by connecting to QC24 module would I be able to make my modifications online? Thanks, Tom
  6. I went to a site that has 2 micrologics 1100 on a network. ip addresses ending 100 and 101. RS links detects both nodes. I was able to go online with 101 through ethernet IP. i had no sucess with 100. i could get acess with serial port. all com settings for ch1 are identical for both plc,s except ip address of course. The plc,s are communicating to each other using the msg instruction and this is working properply. I was able to do all required tasks over the serial port was wondering if the msg instruction takes over the port, but i could get coms to plc2 any ideas.
  7. Greeatings .   I have modicon TSX premium plc (TSX P57103) I have problem i cant connect to my plc. I have tsx pcx 1031 cable and have com port on one PC and on the second i have connector to this cable with usb. when i try xway test i have problem , the request is always 0 . Can someone help me ???
  8. I recently had an issue where a system shipped to a customer's site with a mismatch between the IP address loaded into the CJ1W-ETN21 card and the node dials on the card itself.  We had been testing the settings of the card by pinging the address and had assumed if the node dials were wrong we would not be able to ping the card.  As we just found out that is not the case! Both our quality department and our customer's end user were able to ping the Ethernet card, but the end user could not establish FINS communications because the node dials were not correctly set. Is there a way to test that the dials are correctly set?    Thank you!!!
  9. WinccFlexible + 2 PLCs (CPU 222 and 226)

Hi, i have a system with 2 plc´s (cpu 222 and 226) and a siemens touch pannel. the console communicates with the 2 plcs. However, when i try to do a NETR from one PLC to another, the PLC which does the NETR (CPU 222) stops communicating with the console, but communicates with the other one (CPU 226). How can i resolve this problem without having to give up the communication between the two PLC´s   Thanks.
  10. My client is a pharmaceutical company and they want to interface their Blood Gas Analyzer (which is a RAPIDPoint 500) to a Controllogix PLC via EtherNet. I have attached a Spec that I found, which gives the initial information you would need to do this. It says that the BGA can transmit data in ASCII. However, it doesn't list what bits I need to send to the device in order for it to send the PLC the data. I've tried contacting Siemen's (who makes the BGA) and they were useless. I also tried searching the RA knowledgebase.  Does anyone have any insight on how to communicate with a device in this way? Thank you Tyler RP500_LIS_5_20_13_-_Rev_C_.pdf
  11. Hi Everyone! Where are my experts? I am undertaking a project at work. The project contains analog style motor positioning circuits (operational amplifiers, integrators, and other PI elements). Not that this is relevant to the post yet ;) .It's my first PLC project ever! I am using the Schneider M258 with SoMachine 4.1 The PLC is talking to SoMachine via Ethernet (obviously I have a router between the PLC and my pc).I can Login and run the first POU I created. It's a simple And logic circuit for now. I have a co worker (c programmer) agreeing to help me pass data from my PLC to a browser screen. Although he's not familiar with PLC he's quite skilled writing code. He has wrote a Modbus protocol which allows him to interpret Modbus commands on his desktop.   1) Do I Need any special hardware to pass the data out of the PLC into the Router then into his browser. 2) As a trial can I send him MODBUS commands regarding my AND circuit? 3) How do I create such a command? 4) Is it possible for him to send me Modbus commands to change variables inside my program? 5) Are there web browser "plug-ins" for this idea? Thanks for reading and hopefully all of you can help me answer some of these questions.
  12. ESATR / EGATR Commands

Good morning folks, I've browsed this forum often enough over the past few years that I think it's time I finally signed up.  Lots of good ideas and advice that I've benefited from and I hope to return the favour some day. So on to my question.... I'm currently knee deep in a project using a CJ2M PLC and I have to send and receive chunks of data over Ethernet/IP.  To do this, I'm using the ESATR and EGATR commands (set / get attribute).  I would like to know if these commands finish execution (ie. the ethernet port completes the transaction) even if the input conditions to the command are no longer true.  Specifically, if I use the "port ready" system flag (A202.00 is an input to my FB in this case) as a condition to trigger the ESATR command, this bit will go low once the port becomes busy (ie. during execution).  So will that interrupt the completion of the ESATR command resulting in an incomplete transaction and data loss?  I've looked through the help files on the command but don't get a clear picture of how it behaves. Perhaps the attached JPEG shows more clearly what I mean. Thanks, PC
  13. Hy guys,  My first topic here. Thank you all for so much free info.  I am having a NS5 connected to the serial port of a CJ1M. It worked fine until yesterday when I found the HMI with the "Time-out error occurs while downloading the data. Allocation host: CJ1" message. The first thing I've done si to check the cable. It seems to be ok. Then, I tried to connect the PC through the same port and doesn't work. I tried with others CJ1M and it worked. It is impossible to be a configuration issue, because nobody changed it. Cand only the port die in a PLC?  I think th HMI is fine since I am able to download the project without problem. I will make some other tests to see if I get to communicate bothe devices but I need some help in order to take a path or another. Thank you!
  14. Hello,I am trying to use ProWORX NXT to view the logic of my Modicon Quantum 534 controller online. When I try to go online with it, it always times out. I am using a TCP/IP connection and my PC is in the same subnet as the controller in question. I can ping the controller's IP address just fine and when I use ProWORX NXT's Net Scan function, it recognizes that there is an Ethernet connection at that IP address but doesn't recognize it as a Modicon controller.Weirdly enough, my PC can connect to another Modicon controller of the same type and in the same subnet just fine. Can anyone help me with this issue?
  15. Hi! I try to add in the I/O Configuration, the ControlNet Module 1756-CN2/C, but I can't find for Module Discovery. Why the Module Discovery show me only  1756-CN2/A and  1756-CN2/B? Where I find 1756-CN2/C? I have all versions of RSlogix5000 10 to 20. Thanks for the attention.
  16. Hi guys, I'm using NJ501-1320 for the first time, but i'm having a hard time trying to get the information read from another PLC connected to the switch. I have successfully established the connection to the database, and write some values to it. The main problem now is sending the values in memory, to that same database. So i'm reading the values using an array [0..9] of word, and then converting the same variable to string. The instruction receive doesn't have no reference in the manual, so i don't know if the problem is there. Any help would be aprecciated. Thanks
  17. GT Designer Comms problem

I have GT Designer2 installed on a Win XP virtual machine. I have used the USB to serial Comm port to to upload PLC software from a FX3g plc and this works fine. My problem is trying to upload software from a GOT1000 series OIT using the same UBS-serial comm port/cable. I get the folowing error: (see attached capture) What am I doing wrong? The only thing different is that I am running Gx Developer 8.103H in my Win 7 64 bit system and that talks to the PLC fine. I am unable to get GT designer 2 to talk to the GOT1000 in Virtual XP mode. Any suggestions is greatly appreciated.
