  1. Hi all. I've been tasked with installing/configuring a development box (dev studio 2017 U3 SP1) and then creating a test application using Intouch to communicate to a bunch of rockwell PLC's on the test wall. Normally we would use Citect or FactoryTalk Studio but unfortunately the customer has a couple of OEM InTouch panels (I think communicating with Siemens PLCs *shudders*) and wants to go this route. Anyways. I spent a day installing and configuring a windows 10 development box with 2017 U3 SP1, Hit the windowmaker tile and started to cry.... The new AVEVA website is practically useless, and I'm still waiting to be contacted from technical support. I have used an older version (much older maybe 10 or 15 y/0) of the intouch software which was interfacing a triconex PLC, It looks like the developing of screens hasn't changed too much, however, Q/ What exactly do I need to download/install for my communications? I've read the PDFs that installed with the dev software and watched a bunch of youtube vids (and fruitlessly searched the aveva knowledgebase) and there looks to be more than one way to skin the cat. Maybe I missed the option in the multitude of installation screens to add additional drivers?? It looks like I need either SuiteLink? or ABCIP version 7? (assuming they are not the same thing??). I can only see ABCIP version 4 (dated 2012) on Aveva (and a tech note about version 6.? and 7.0 potentially crashing the L8x range of AB PLCs) and I'm sure suitelink is a collective term for any and all drivers It seems like it should be a very simple and obvious thing to do but I'm stumped. Any assistance GREATLY appreciated Regards Dave
  2. Can the PlC be accessed remotely. If I hook the CompactLogix L32E up to the internet WAN, would it be possible for an engineer to access and make changes to the program remotely?? Or does it have to be done onsite through the LAN.
  3. Hello everyone, Just wanted to share my company web store. https://voltatek.ca We sell used PLC parts, primary Allen-Bradley.  We ship from Canada. We also sell electronics for DIY projects and CNC Router parts.   Thank you!
  4. Hello,  I have 30 recipes(g_Blend_Recipes) and want to search for an item number in the recipes and compare it with what the operator enters on the HMI. The recipes itself is an array and there are 5 item numbers in each recipe. I read about the FSC instruction but did not figure a way out yet. I am attaching a picture of the recipe. Any help would be appreciated.
  5. Good day. I'm using 1756 L71S GuardLogix Integrated Safety Controller with Studio 5000 v28. My controller is connected to a third party software through ethernet connection, it simulates my project hardware and provides all the signals to my PLC. To know all the hardware signallocation at PLC memory, it uses a Tag export file provided by Studio 5000. In other PLCs, when you declare a variable as hardware input, you have to select in which address from the memory you want this input to be read, something like "Bit Input 0.0". But in AB this step is skipped, that is all addresses are managed by Studio5000 and hidden from the user. Is there any configuration at Studio 5000 that let me assign or at least see this addresses? Normally I would prefer my tags addresses to be hidden, but in this specific case it is more useful to know memory addresses.
  6. Hi guys! I need some help, recently was assined to me make a program with a PANELVIEW PLUS 6 600, until here all ok , but! I need to make a devicenet comunication, and use factorytalk 5.1... here start my problems, i find a EDS file to the factory falk, but, in the rockweell site, the information about compatibilty is "may be compatible"... I need to make in the factorytal 5.1 because de cliente system is based in this version of the software. Someone already had a similar problem??? if so, can help me?   thank's, and sorry about any mistakes in my writing.
  7. Hello, I have a .PBW file in an obsolete PanelView that I need to troubleshoot, but I can't open it.  Called AB TechConnect for support, but tech said it was too archaic and he, essentially, needed to start with a Windows98 machine and PanelBuilder 32 to even begin.  FactoryTalk doesn't know what to do with it.  File is attached.  Any suggestions/assistance is much appreciated ABWWTP.PBW
  8. I need some advice how to tune PID properly. The PID is only PI type (two mode) and its overshooting frequently. Assuming I need to tune P with starting incrementing by very small steps till PID oscillates.  Once the P is established then will be tuning I , again with small increments till PV follows SP.  So this is my assumption below but would like someone to comment on it as I haven’t had to do it before , been learning PLC for 4 months now.  Do I need to start a machine and then start tuning PID or can this be done in more friendly way , offline ?
  9. Has anyone had any luck adding Allen Bradley EtherNet/IP devices to the IO tree in Codesys using the EtherNet/IP scanner module from Codesys??
  10. Hi everybody... I have a Panelview C400  that was running OK, but CCW asked me to upgrade the firmware. After download the new firmware, and follow exactly the flash procedure, the HMI reboot, make the autotesting and then keep in boot without load the SO... How to reset to factory defaults?? or downgrade the firmware?? or anything to help me to solve this issue??? Thanks in advance... Yony
  11. Hello everyone,   I need to communicate a CompactLogix to a Kuka KRC 4 by Ethernet/IP but I do not know to generate the EDS file..... any clue please ?

  13. Hi experts, the pulses counted in my flow meter are not the same with what is counted in my PLC. my flow meter is set at 1 liter per pulse, and the pulse width is 100 mili-seconds  my PLC filter is set at 5 micro-seconds. example for 12-13 seconds in my flow meter readings 23 liters will be dispense for the same 12-13 second it shows 12 liters dispensed on my HMI. please what settings are required to make both the PLC and flow meter count the same ? am using high speed counter for this application. Please i will appreciate any contribution to enable me solve this problem  thanks
  14. Hello all! I have a two part question - both revolve around using Rockwell's CCW software. 1) in rs500 you can mov a value into the an int memory slot and call that int up later on for comp. instructions to see where you're at. Example, if x switch is active, mov value 0 into N7/0. If y switch is active, move value 1 into N7/0. If both x & y are active, move a value of 2 into N7/0. How is this done in CCW??? I've found the mov command but not sure where/how to store this value. 2) How do does one shot [ONS] work in CCW?!? From what I've gathered the r_trig and f_trig is its replacement, and thought it made plenty of sense. But no matter what I do the triggers never work out correctly. Thanks, -g
  15. Hi, my HSC counts accumulated pulses but destination register does not count ! will appreciate any contribution to help resolve this issue  thanks  HSC Issues.pdf
  16. Issue suddenly began about 3 weeks ago...or I noticed it anyway. I opened devicenet to change a parameter in a drive but all nodes have a question mark on them and RSNetworks will not register them no matter what I do. I checked RSLinx and I see question marks on The DNB/E modules and on the EN2T/D modules. I made sure I had the eds files and AOI's for these modules but nothing changes. I have uninstalled Networx and changed versions several times but it comes up the same way. I am using RSLinx version 4.10 and now have RSNetworx version 28. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
  17. Hello,  please i wish to simulate HSC in Allen Bradley 1400 using a square wave generator. i have built and tested the square wave generator it works well, the issue is how to wire it to Allen Bradley 1400. also i wish to understand IO Configuration filter settings, am using Allen Bradley 1400 B series Processor  Thanks  Square wave generator simulating with AB 1400 for HSC.pdf
  18. Hello everybody I am using a 1746-bas to communicate with an Omron plc. I used hyperterminal to write the program for the 1746-bas. I have the data going to the 1746-bas from the Omron plc but as soon as I exchange the data the program from my 1746-bas seems to get interrupted for no reason. I have looked at the manuals but have not been able to find anything to remedy the problem. Any help would be really appreciated. Thank you
  19. Hi everyone; I want to communication Omron NB series HMI with Allen Bradley Micro 830 PLC. I don't know is it possible. İf its that possible, help me please..
  20. Hello to everybody, I'm new in AB world, but has experience in Siemens and Omron. I'm trying to find out a way how I can handle multiple PLC firmware versions in Studio 5000. I installed Studio 5000 v30.* and it give me only 1 option to select PLC with v30 or HMI with v3. I get in touch with AB support and they told me to upgrade my PLC firmware to support my software version what is doesn't sounds like solution for me. Could anybody help me to explain how Studio 5000 works and it was done in Rockwell world?  Thanks in advance! Regards, Scotty
  21. Hello everyone, Working in Automation for the first time as a Co-op student so i'm fairly new to PLC's and the Automation field in general. I've recently been tasked with converting a RSlogix 5 program from an old PLC 5 project into a Studio5000 project. I referenced the manual (I'll attach link below), and had no issues using the RSlogix Project Migrator tool that I downloaded off the Rockwell website. My problem is that once I convert the program, my I/O tags that were originally sequenced in octets(0-7, 10-17, 20-27, ...) from the RSlogix 5 program, are switched into a sequential scheme in Studio5000 that just increments them in order (1, 2, 3, 4, ...). I hope this make sense, but basically the first seven tags match between the projects, but then I:010 in rslogix 5 is equivalent to I[8] in 5000, I:011 is I[9], and so on and so forth. Has anyone had this issue before and found a way to have Studio5000 keep the original octet scheme? I don't see this normally being an issue, but the customer has specifically asked that the I/O tag names be kept the same as the original program. Thanks for any help. - Ben   Converting PLC-5 reference manual link: https://literature.rockwellautomation.com/idc/groups/literature/documents/rm/1756-rm085_-en-p.pdf
  22. Hello guys, I'm new to the forum and pretty much a rookie in the PLC world. Am currently working on the MicroLogix 1100 and trying to establish communication via the USB to DH485 1747-UIC. I have watched a couple o videos on YouTube, like this one https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSKZ8sS1-HM and also, tutorials like this one https://www.theautomationstore.com/how-to-configure-the-1747-uic/, but without success. Reviewing some information provided online, I came across the fact that this adapter is compatible  with the Allen Bradley SCL series.....but couldn't find out if it's compatible with the MicroLogix 1100. If this is not compatible, then which Ethernet-to-USB adapter do I need to use for my specific PLC? Thank you very much in advance for all of your help. Best regards, Jarib CS
  23. Hi please, i will like to learn a few things about expansion module, how can the card number of an expansion module be identified,  how can the configuration of an expansion module be achieved using RSLogix 500, an example will be the expansion module attached here in the micrologix series  expansion module configuration (Allen Bradley).pdf
  24. Anyone have experience with the old SLC-500s? I have one machine that is about 13 years old and I think they used a new old stock SLC-05/04 when they built it. Anyway I had a battery error, which makes sense since the battery was very old, and I lost my program when I tried to replace it, which makes sense because the capacitor which is supposed to hold the charge is very old. When I tried to re-download the program to the PLC, I could not connect, I realized my issue now was no null modem... and my driver not working on my RS-232 to USB converter. My question is:  What is the port above the DB-9 port used for? It was labeled PROG, so when my DB-9 serial cable didn't work I tried a serial cable for a mitsubishi FX series on the top port... and.... my power supply died. Is this a common thing on SLC-500 power supplies? Can you short them by using the wrong cable? The weird thing is the fuse on the front was not blown. Is there a fuse inside I can get to and replace? We are planning on just keeping this machine a few more years so we don't want to upgrade it. The CPU was fine afterwards.
  25. Hi please, i got a ladder logic project here that a uploaded from a PLC, I please i need more elaboration on this ladder logic project please the attached pdf below    thanks  PLC1.pdf
