  1. Melsoft Series GX Develop Error

Good day everyone.  Somebody can help me to to resolve the issues in our PLC. I am not a PLC engineer, your help will be highly appreciated. It is showing - Failed to open the Project file.  Possible causes: 1.The data in the project file is completely damaged; 2.The data is created by new version more than this S/W; 3.The project file does not exist. Hopefully, somebody can help me or give instruction on how to check those possible causes.   Thank you.

  3. GS2107-WTBD and rs232 input

We are upgrading our A900 GOTs (finally) and I'm looking into updating our key switches to rfid readers. Does anyone know of a good rs232 rfid reader to pair with a GS2107 GOT Simple? Also if anyone has had luck with scripting for security levels and could post a sample (be it GOT1000/2000) it would be awesome sauce.
  4. PLC download problem

Hi, when I download on PLC (R04), sometimes for example. TON timer's output .Q is automatically set to true even though input is false (also on .ET time is 4h ...??). Also, sometimes some bool variables are also set to true even though they are not set by any kind of logic. However, when I physical reset the PLC (power cycle), mentioned problems don't exist. Does it mean that software reset isn't working entirely correct and I need to reset physical PLC (power cycle) every time after I download on PLC? Regards Luka

  9. Hello everyone! I am new to Eplan, and I am working on a big project on which someone else has worked on before me and almost finished it, but with a lot of technical mistakes and missing peaces. My boss expects me to fix a lot of things, but I have no experience with this software, so I could use some help. The problem is that no revision information (revision date, description, approved by etc) is displayed in this project, and I don't know how to make it appear, and be correct. I have made changes in plot frame and added special texts which should display these data, but I don't know where should I define wanted information (for example, I put special text for "approved by" but I can't seem to find adequate place to write the name of that person)? And, is there a way for Eplan to generate automatically revision description, based on the changes I made? From all said, it is obvious that I have no idea at all how revisions work, so any help would be enormously appreciated Thank you in advance! Cheers

  15. SIEMENS S7 STATION

Dear All, I am very new to S7 PLC programming (S7 Simatic Manager v5.5) and I wanted to know how to back-up a system consisting of multiple PLC Stations (S7-1200, S7-300, etc). I am able to upload station to PG but that will save only per station. How about saving the whole system? I am not sure if i am using the right terminology. As you can see, I was given a zip file for the S7 project and it contains the whole system. I am trying to see how the commissioning engineer was able to do it (don't ask why I am not asking him instead). How can I then use this project file to download the program to the PLC/system once I decide to restore. I am at loss and have been searching for references over the internet. Uploading and downloading per station is no problem. I cannot seem to know how to do it on multiple stations system. I hope I have made some clear question or somehow you have managed to understand it.  TIA.
  16. Hello, I'm new to this forum and PLC world in general (especially to Mistubishi PLCs). I have a task in which I need to synchronize servomotor with another motor that runs conveyer (servomotor needs to stamp a label on a foil on a conveyer), in GX Works3. Servo motor is run by Simple Motion module. I need general tips on how to make pulses from encoder into something useful that can be used to send data to Simple Motion module. I need high speed counter to count pulses (never actually did this, I got this from manuals), how would I, for example, get speed out of it? Number n pulses, divide it with time it took to get to n pulses? How would I make Simple Motion to make servomotor on his Axis #1 to rotate at same speed?
  17. I am in the learning phase of HMI and PLC programing and am trying to use some of the hardware that has been donated to me. I have an AB panelview 300 micro terminal and a Micrologix 1000 Plc (they are not tethered yet). I have constructed a small test board with everything mounted to it and have successfully written and downloaded a simple project to the plc with timers, etc.   Now I need to find a way to program the terminal to make changes to the program.   I am looking for some free panelbuilder 32 or anything that will allow me to program the terminal and use it.   Can anyone help me? All help will be greatly appreciated!
  18. I have read that it is possible, in CXDesigner, to download the program from the computer onto a memory card, and then download from the memory card into the HMI terminal. Is a similar thing possible with CXProgrammer, and PLCs? It would be quite useful, for the purposes of updating the program on a customer PLC that is located overseas, when the customer does not own a laptop with CXProgrammer installed.

  23. Hello! I am working with RSLogix5000 software and writing the program. Very often I need to download the program to the CPU and of course it writes all program at the same time. This downloading makes problem to me, because I loose parametrizised data from the CPU, downloading will always overwrite default values of the tags. Some parameters are written from the panel and I want to keep these parameters allthougt I am downloading new program. How should I handle this? Some tags can be overwriten, some not.
  24. We have a couple Mitsubishi FX2c-96MT 's running a Laser engraver and one of them appears to have a faulty card or connections on the card. we picked up a couple spares one is a FX2C-96MT and the other is FX2c-96MT-ess. Is there really a difference between these? I see on the old PLC the middle card says ess on it already? we need to "harvest" the current plc program before swapping into the new unit. we picked up one of the cheapie pc connection kits which doesn't look like it is right and don't want to connect it and burn something out. IT has a rs232 on one end than a male 25-pin connector with a second cord that goes from female 25-pin to the mini-DIN connector. Neither of the FX2c-96MT plc's have a mini-din connection as i read online everywhere. there is a 25-pin connector on the top next to the FX2c-96MT label. is this the programming port? I would have assumed the programming port would either be the one covered up by the battery cover or the little one on the end with a 3/8 x 1" cover. I am assuming thae, with no instructions for much of anything. Thanks for all and any help in this matter t we should be able to use an older laptop running winXP for this? i downloaded GX developer and will install it on the xp laptop as soon as we are able to be sure of a cable that will be safe and not damage anything. If this cable we purchased will not work, could someone send a link for instructions to fabricate one? I see several in a gogle search, but they are all different and we want to make sure we do this safely as the program on the PLC is apparently NOT backed up anywhere, and the people who set it up years ago are long gon Paul
  25. Hey, this may be an obvious question, but here goes: I have a CompactLogix L36ERM running RL5000 controlling one of our lead die cast machines. When I make a change to the program offline and need to download I always go and shut the machine down for safety reasons before downloading. One of our techs stopped the machine but left the control power and hydraulic pump on while downloading (something we are not supposed to do) when he finished downloading he switched it back to run mode and the machine closed on it's own and started right back up. This is a safety concern to me. We have a "close enable" tag that is true when all necessary conditions are met, and gets latched on when the machine is running in full auto. Before he downloaded the machine was at idle, meaning that the only way to close the machine would be to press the two dead-man switches to start the process. But, when he downloaded it started up automatically. Now I know the reason why is when the program was last saved, the "close enable" tag had a value of 1, it was latched on, so it bypassed the dead-man switches. A quick fix would be to save the program with that tag un-latched so that it can't start up on it's own after downloading. But, in case somebody saves the program while the machine is running and with that tag latched on, I need a better solution. Is there any tag or bit that goes true when a program is downloaded or when the mode of the PLC is switched from run to download to run? I want to manipulate that tag so that when I download it un-latches the "close enable" tag. I'm sure there is a way to do it, I'm just not even really sure what to search for in the online help. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Howard
