  3. Hello I downloaded a .mer file on the Panel view 1000 but it shows errors on the display graphics. i have configured the Rslinx communication several times by selecting the rigt PLC in Design and Runtime mode. I am using Facotry Talk view 8.20 and creating 5.10 runtime file. Please advice. I was able to correctly download and use the HMI on a similar machine. I dont know what am I missing on this one.    Thanks Pratik Jain
  4. Track NS series IP addresses

I am using the NS series touch screens and NS-Runtime. Do they have a System word that stores the IP address of that touch screen or PC running the NS-Runtime application. I want to be able to trigger different functions in my project depending on the IP address.
  5. GXWorks2 Label changes

Hi Sorry if this has been asked before but I have done some searching and couldn't find any answers in the forum. If I have a label that I use in my ladder, I can edit the address of the label any everything works OK (i.e. the ladder references the Label and not the direct address) If I need to change the text of the label, but keep the address the same, the ladder fails as it is using the label as the reference to the address. Is there anyway I can change a label and have it automatically update the ladder with the change  e.g. lets say I have a label called 'counter_1' which is used throughout the ladder code. If I want to change the name of the label to 'counter_A', I can alter it in the Global Labels (the excel type thing), but then have to update it manually everywhere in my ladder. any help would be much appreciated thanks Andy
  6. Good Day, I have done a quick search and couldn't find any pertinent information, so I was hoping somebody else might have been through this in the past. We are using a 1769 L32E and are trying to record the ambient temperature of the cabinet the PLC is in. We don't want to incur the expense or use the space that an external temperature sensor/thermocouple would entail. Is there an onboard temperature sensor that has a tag available in the ladder? Thanks, Jed
  7. Hi all. Firstly, I am not a programmer, I just need advice. We have HMI's using NS-Runtime and we keep getting this message. Now, this is why I am contacting you all. This has happened over 20 times on 20 different HMI's which we have replaced over the last 3 years. We have been told by our software supplier that the com port is "on it's way out". There is NO WAY over 20 hmi's over that period will deveop com port faults. So my question guys, can someone give me a few tips on what to try before I change HMI's over ervery dang mponth please? I am really at the end of my tether here. We connect our HMI's to the Omron PLC's via a standard serial. If we change to another HMI the machine communicates after obviously a long period of downtime. Should we reset the plc? I will take ANY advise please guys.
  8. HMI I/O Tag addressing

Hi all, I am sure this has been done many times but I am relatively new to Siemens so please bear with me.   I am using Simatic manager Step 7 for the plc programming and TIA portal 13 sp1 for the HMI (TP1200 Comfort panel), this communicates via Profinet network, we have 96 physical inputs and 64 physical outputs on the PLC.   What I would like to do is add maintenance pages to the HMI to give a graphical representation of the plc inputs and outputs, most of the inputs are assigned to various DB’s but not all and the outputs are the same.   So page 1 would be input card 1 would be I0.0, I0.1, I0.2, I0.3, I0.4, I0.5, I0.6, I0.7 and then I1.0, I1.1 etc, etc, for every input and output on the PLC.   My question is, do I add all the physical Tags individually into the HMI as (Tag 1 - Input I0.0 = I0.0) or would I be best using the DB addressing where possible (DB1020.DBX0.0). is there a preference or best practice to use Physical or DB addressing, would one be more reliable, use less resources, quicker over the network? As i will have over 200 tags will this slow things down or cause problems?   So for the representation of the I/O i am using a rectangle, in Display / Appearance and setting this to change colour as the tag changes state, all basic stuff   I have done one screen and it works on both DB and physical, but as I am new to Siemens i am not sure what is the preferred technique to use before i do the rest of the screens
  9. I have entered the messages many times into the Alarm Setup but every time i re-open the alarm setup, every message that has the Trigger Value=1 will be deleted.  Anyone have a similar issue?
  10. GOT2000 GT Designer3

Hi, Is there any way of changing the background color (or pattern) of a Base Screen using Screen Script. The screen doesn't seem to have the same object script options as other components. Or is it hidden away somewhere?
  11. Hai dear all , i am facing a problem with  Rsview32 . In my rsview32 project "derived tags, data log, alaram log are not working but it shows status of another tags comming from PLC.Before this tags are working properly.i tried I restarted review 32 project and computer, command line enter "derived on (file). Still it is not working.anybody can help me for solving this problem.
  12. I have L61 with nonvolatile memory installed. The controller will read the program from CF card on power up. The issue is that some variables are lost or not the most up to date values are read from the card since it remembers them as they were last stored on the CF card. So stuff like motor run hours, etc is not up to date. Is there any way I can update these variables or tags on the CF card as they are updated by the process? Or what would be proper way to deal with this issue?
  13. Hi, Is there any setup to manage alarms in one PLC from multiple CX-Supervisor runtimes running on different computers? If I get an alarm, it shows up on both runtimes. If I acknowledge from one runtime, I also want it to be gone from the list in the other runtimes.
  14. cx supervisor runtime failed

my CX supervisor runtime has failed. when i build a runtime, SR2 built succesfully, but when open the SR2 file theres nothing pop up on my runtime. Event/ error log tell that failed to open device, non-specific error occurred: PLC, [CX-Server: MANAGER, ERROR, 0x8825]. How to solve this problem..please help me
  15. Quick question, but can Factorytalk View Studio read the tag descriptions in Logix designer. I would like to make the alarms just read the PLC tag descriptions and since the comments are now stored on the PLC, I am wondering if we have access to them from the HMI... Thanks in advance.

  17. Hello, I am new to the connected components workbench software. I am working with an AB panelview component Hmi and would like to create numeric buttons to load integers into user variables in a schnieder LMD servo motor. The motor uses Modbus TCP to communicate. It appears that if I click on the numeric buttons properties there is a "Write Tag" of which you can use some default tags or create a new one. I am assuming that I need to create a new one with the motor's addressing but I'm not quite sure how to accomplish this. Any help would be much appreciated!!! Thanks, Steve
  18. Hi All: I am new to Citect and looking for a way to create 1 page that has 25 valves (genie that pops up a super genie) and some analog genie/super genies. What I want to do is create 1 page and dynamically replace everything when someone selects a different rack in the system. I have 4 systems that have the exact same equipment times 10 so I want to avoid creating 40 different pages. Can anyone help with some ideas on how I can accomplish this? Thanks M
  19. WinCC Runtime on Server

Hi, I'm trying to integrated a couple of machines with S7 300 series CPU's onto an existing industrial VLAN, The two machines currently get their recipe information and send their archive information to a PC running a Win CC runtime package on a separate VLAN. I've changed the IP addresses and can get the Runtime package to work from my PC but not the server that I have been provided with. It's as though the server is too slow, it takes about 3 minutes to establish a connection with the PLC and the monitoring word the PLC sends to the PC to ensure comms is not returned, however when I run the same Runtime file on my PC on the same VLAN it works fine also the ping TTL is only about 3ms. Does anyone have any ideas what could be wrong ? It may be worth saying that this server is a just a partition of a bigger server running a VMware package.
  20. I have a FactoryTalk 8 application that exhibits some weird symptoms when I run it. I have buttons whose "visible" state and "enabled" state are based on HMI tags. The states of these buttons don't update. I have screens that fail to close when the "abort" command is issued. I have vba that connects to a tag group, which fails to retrieve the value and produces an error. Some tag values from the PLC (always direct-addressed, I think) show up correctly, even when other symptoms above are happening. These issues randomly go away sometimes after a restart and the entire application runs fine. Does anybody have a clue what could be doing this? (Using Windows 7 Professional 6.1.7601 Service Pack 1 Build 7601, SE version 8.10.00 (CPR 9 SR 7.4), Internet Explorer 11.0.9600.17633)
  21. CX-Supervisor can't runtime

hello guys, i got a little bit problem with my cx-supervisor 3.2. when i clicked the cx-supervisor development project, the message showed that cx-server detected a problem during initialitation. But it could enter the program with the new message again that access to the cx-server project has been denied and finally it surely could not runtime. After that i tried to fix it with uninstall and re-install but the result was the same. Please i need help to solve this problem. i have fixed it as much as i can it didnt work. Thank You Best regard
  22. Is there any way to copy the value of an HMI tag to a parameter (FactoryTalk View ME 8). I am looking at doing something like: #100 = HMITag1 value I get #100 = HMITag1 name when I try anything meaningful. For example, if I have HMITag1 = test. I want to get #100 to equal "test", but I keep getting #100 is equal to "HMITag1". A little more background in case there is a better way of doing this. I have several components (pieces of equipment) that are the same. Each has its own program on the PLC that includes a group of tags for the component's settings. Most components use the same settings by copying tags from the controller level to the tags at the program level. A couple components need special settings. I have one HMI screen that each component will display for settings. A parameter file for each component will be used to display the settings from the proper Program. The parameter files have a tag for the program name (#100 = Program:ComponentX). On the HMI components I have {::[PLC]#100TestVar1}. This works great when #100 is a program name (the special cases). I was trying to get #100 to equal a blank so the object would access the controller level tag so any changes to the global versions would be across the board. I thought I could create an HMI string tag equal with no value to accomplish this. I just can't get #100 to equal a null string.
  23. I am using a KTP700 BASIC HMI panel. I have two languages in the HMI program. On the inbuilt Logon screen, I want to show English text in size 21, French text in size 15. In Runtime settings > Languages and Fonts, I give each language different font sizes, but when I run the program on the HMI panel, they both show up the same size. (For example, I set English to font size 21, and French to font size 15. However, if I access the password screen in English, then later in French, the text is shown in font size 21 in both occasions). This is a problem because the French words are longer, and hence some letters get cut off. Any ideas about how to get around this? (besides just using font size 15 for both?)
  24. C40K

Hi Can anyone help with changing timer values in a C40K using syswin and a host link3G2C7-LK201_EV1. I have tried clicking Editors, Data display editor and then T/C VAL. This then loads all the values into the display window. Double click the required Timer and a new window opens up with the value. Changing that value and then clicking ok and then writing the value to the C40K. This does not appear to change the value because if I then read the values back I still have the original value and not the one I changed it to. Hope this makes sense. I assume that it should be possible to change the values using this method. I can change the values using the hand held console
  25. I have been supplied with a list of tags from a vendor containing flags indicating if alarm conditions are on. These tags have the format AlarmGroup.Num.1 through AlarmGroup.Num.10 as recorded. Reading these tags as presented by making a read request to the Read Tag Service fails with general error code status 0x05, "Request path destination unknown. Probably instance number is not present.". I am using ASCII extended symbolic segments to translate the tag into a path so the instance number is not required for this approach. Upon further discussion with the vendor I found out AlarmGroup.Num.1 refers to bit 1 of the AlarmGroup.Num tag that is a DINT tag. I can successfully read the AlarmGroup.Num as a DINT but I was hoping for a more universal solution that would not require me to add solution specific parsing functionality to identify tags that refer to individual bytes from other tags and manually shift the bits as required. I am very new at this and I want to know if it is possible to address an individual bit (for reading only) from a DINT tag and how to build the path to access it. Are there other types of segments other than the ASCII extended segments required?
