  1. HI ,  Thanks a lot for the reply & help on previous topic. Now i setting up a new system with 2x CJ2M CPU13  and 2x SCU32 and the connection via 1000M RS485 cable. May i know the best communication to use for the serial communications?   Regards, TJ SHARON.
  2. Good day. I'm using 1756 L71S GuardLogix Integrated Safety Controller with Studio 5000 v28. My controller is connected to a third party software through ethernet connection, it simulates my project hardware and provides all the signals to my PLC. To know all the hardware signallocation at PLC memory, it uses a Tag export file provided by Studio 5000. In other PLCs, when you declare a variable as hardware input, you have to select in which address from the memory you want this input to be read, something like "Bit Input 0.0". But in AB this step is skipped, that is all addresses are managed by Studio5000 and hidden from the user. Is there any configuration at Studio 5000 that let me assign or at least see this addresses? Normally I would prefer my tags addresses to be hidden, but in this specific case it is more useful to know memory addresses.
  3. I have a Modicon NOM0200 unit connected to an access switch to send commands to various rs-232 devices. The Access switch requires a "disconnect string" to end communication with a particular port. The disconnect string is "CRTL+D", how can I send a "CRTL" keystroke from the NOM0200 unit? I know for carriage return it is "$R" is their a similar combination I can enter for "CTRL"?
  4. I am trying to program an analogue output on a Siemens S7-1500 unit from a 4-20ma sourced analogue input scaled over 0-250 degrees. The analogue input will have an adjustable setting in the software for when the alarm status should occur and at this point I want the analogue alarm output to start to process at 4ma, at 5 degrees above the initial set point I want the analogue output value to be 20ma I have no idea how to do this so any help from people is greatly appreciated and advice on which analogue output card to use would be helpful.
  5. Hello At first - sorry for my bad english. I have a FX2N-48MR with a FX2N-232IF and i only want to watch the X and set the Y over RS232 with a Crestron Contolunit. I use GX Developer 8 on a XP Laptop and figure slowly out how it works. I read the manuals i found, managed to send from the PLC to the Serial Program on my Laptop (Program named HTerm) But i do not figured out the sending. Can you give me some hint?   Greetings FT
  6. Connect PLC to Kepserver

I have Delta 12SA2 PLC it has RS232 port and I have connected it to kepserver (by Modbus serial) and then factory IO Now my problem is that when I connect my PLC to kepserver the RS232 port becomes busy with the kepserver and not available in the ISPSoft and therefore I could not demonstrate factory io and my logic in run mode in the isp soft together like you do in your videos. My PLC don't have ethernet port but is there an option in kepserver or any way by which i can use the same serial port of the PLC in isp soft run mode and kepserver+factory io together so that I can simultaneously show the logic running in isp soft and application working in factory io to my students. I googled a lot and found some softwares which make virtual serial ports for a given serial port but they don't work and soon hang Please help me I am in a great need of it. Thanks in advance.
  7. My SLC 5/04 is currently connected to a PanelView 1000 having only the RS-232 and using the SLC's bottom RS232 Port.  The PanelView Cable we can disconnect and connect a laptop, go online and troubleshoot problems, BUT we have to disconnect the laptop and reconnect the PanelView to operate the machine. Question:  Which of the other two Ports on the 5/04 could I use for the laptop connection leaving the PanlView connected? Also what cable to use on the 8-Pin Programming Port or the 3-Pin DH+ Port?

Is it possible converting Omron and Keyence plc's serial communication into Ethernet using serial to RJ45 converter?I need to connect these plcs with MOXA 5600 terminal service for communicating it to the Server. Thanks in Advance....!
  9. Hi guys. I have a new SRM50-HAV0-K01 sick encoder for my ELAU servo motor (model: ELAU sm 070-60-010-P0-45-M1-B0), and need to program it according to an old one (which seemingly is broken) via hiperface. device: PGT-11-S LAN software: SOPAS 2018.3 build (Vm version 1.8.0_73) I tried to find any certain way for programming of sick encoders on the net using the mentioned device and software, but cant. all is only about datasheet or how to use teh software without an specific instruction. I am not even sure of that the old one is broken, except that in the analysis mode of the SOPAS (entering via hiperface) I can see the the  sin-cosin graph out of its limitation line. The thing is I have bought a special tool which has not any specific instruction and SICK group does not reply any exact instruction for my issue. Here is my questions:   How can I program the new encoder just according the old one?   And how can I assure that the new one programmed just as the old one?    and what is the definite sign of a broken encoder?   anyone experienced?
  10. 90 30 CPU350 serial connection

ok running into a issue here, so we were able to communicate with the processor to download a program. transfer went fine. upon cycling power, we can no longer connect to processor. we used LM90 for the software. i've tried removing the battery and shorting out the "mem clear" points on the board, however we can no longer communicate with the CPU. we have a POWER and OK light solid on the power supply. kinda stumped here if anyone has any insight.
  11. Direct Logic 05 Ethernet

I have a control that I want to use a Direct logic 05 plc in.  It is a really simple program but it is going into a plant that has a main control panel that runs the plant.  I dont know the brand of the plc in the main control.  They want to be able to send me a command from their plc to the direct logic to turn on my unit.  I suppose that would mean a simple set instruction to my plc.  I also have a couple alarm conditions that I want to send them.  For example if water pressure is to low I would put my unit in the alarm mode and send them a low water signal.  If the chemical is low likewise,   I dont have a clue how to do this in my program.  Can anyone give me some examples in direct logic plc program for making this happen??? Thank you Thank you Thank you. MikeC
  12. Codesys

Hello - I stumbled across some mention of Codesys and was curious if anyone here uses it. Pros/cons? prefer it over other programming software. Have it downloading currently (since you can download a free variation of the application) but it looks quite interesting. Also - what PLC hardware is programmed with it? Did not see that mentioned on their website when I was browsing through.

The baud rate is 115200. No Flow Rate is choose. Anyone can help with this kind of problems?
  15. Is it possible to use FX3U-485ADP-MB as a serial port to send and receive user defined string/data to and from a computer? I have a FX3U-32M PLC and two FX3U-485ADP-MB adapters. I have been using PLC with one adapter as Modbus Master. Now i want to use both adapters, where one will be Modbus Master as usual and the other I want to use to send and receive data to and from computer terminal (Example - Realterm). I have a third party 232/485 converter which works really well. Lets me just describe my requirement straight forward. I want to display process parameters on a windows computer based user interface (UI) and also set some variables in PLC from the same UI. The UI has access to serial ports of computer.
  16. Hello all - Wanted to check in and get some ideas on how everyone else out there stays organized with the various connectors, cables, etc. Currently I have been using a decent sized laptop backpack (keeping my laptop in there, spare battery and charger) along with various cables, connectors, external drive, CDs, screwdriver sets, wire crimps/strippers, etc. Seems though as I've been getting into different projects, different PLCs and such that the 'inventory' has been growing. Just wanted to hear others thoughts. Also, if you could maybe throw out your NEED TO CARRY items I'd be interested in what everyone else has to say. Sorry if this has been posted before or somewhere else. Thanks,  Kyle

  19. Controllogix 1756-OF8 Wiring help

Hello everyone!  I am having some issues with the internal wiring/wiring of the 1756-OF8 analog output card in my Controllogix L55 controller. I have just recently started using  Allen bradley products, so please bear with me. If my memory serves me correctly, in my past experiences with other plc vendors I thought I was required to provide 24vdc+ from the power supply, which is common to all the channels used for driving the analog out(4-20ma) to the field device being controlled. But I can find any documentation from Allen Bradley that supports this. Can anyone shed some light on how to connect the power supply to the OF-8 card.   Thank you!! Shane
  20. I am new to Automation Direct software and how the programs are written. Can anyone explain how they handle the analog outputs? My processor does not support the IBox that makes life easier, so I am having to do it the old hard way. I understand most of the logic of how its done for sending data to one channel but I don't understand how the channel selecting works. Can someone give me a programming example or explain how that works? I am looking at the online manual that Automation Direct provides for you for the analog module but I am having a difficult time trying to wrap my brain around how they do their analog stuff ><
  21. I'm trying to understand the basics of using a serial to ethernet converter such as this Comtrol DM-EIP-2101, with Studio5000 code. Basically I have a weighing machine that only outputs data via RS-232 and I need to send that data to a PC that will process it through a Studio5000 program and have the data displayed on an HMI using FTview SE. Is it as simple as just connecting the serial and ethernet to the converter and it does all the work? Obviously checking ip addresses and firmware will need to be verified. The main thing I am unsure of is the process of passing the individual data packets from the machine to the Logix code on the PC,  things like what the weight of the item was, was it over weight or under, etc....  Would there be an AOI or tags built into the software for a machine like this Checkweigher? I've worked with much smaller items like Cognex Dataman cameras and I know you can just use their AOI that allows you to simply call a tag if you want to display information like if a scanned barcode was correct or whatever. If anyone has done something similar I'd appreciate any guidance. It can be difficult getting the information from the manufactures so I'm looking for answers anywhere I can. EDIT: I guess I should also clarify that only using one or the other (serial or E/IP) is not an option. It will be a serial connection from the Weighing machine to the converter and then Ethernet to the PC.
  22. I have OMRON CP1E PLC and I want to read memory address of PLC via serial communication. I want to use ESP8266 OR ARDIUNO OR PC Hyperterminal Please help me in any direction. How I should proceed?

  24. Hello I have a scenario that's been bugging me for some time now. The scenario consists of a Micrologix 1400 that I need to control it's output from modbus/tcp. In detail what I really need is to be able to manipulate the O0:0 through modbus/tcp. The PLC would be the master and I would be the slave that triggers the connection to the master. I'm using a Modbus-Client on my PC and that should be the slave. Any idea as to how I can manage that? Currently I can send data to the master but everything is "stored" on B10 and I have no idea how I could write directly on O0. Thanks a bunch guys. PS: I'm borderline noob.
  25. PC send data to PLC

Hello, i'm newbie for plc. i want to ask about PC/computer send data to PLC CP1E with serial communication (RS232). my wiring cable is: PC                         PLC 2                             2 3                             3 5                             9 4&6    7&8                               4&5 and if i send data from PC to PLC, my indicator in COMM is blinking. i think the cable have no problem. but if i send data from PC to PLC, the memory is not same as what i send and whatever i send data, the memory didn't change. i will attach my ladder diagram. what should i do?    New folder.rar
