I have a question regarding warranties on servo motor drivers. We had an ELMO Bassoon motor driver fail after less then a year of service in a machine we built. When I contacted ELMO, they told me the warranty was one year from date of manufacture, not sale. Since the driver sat on our supplier's shelf for 18 months, they would not warranty the part. However as a courtesy they offered to sell us a replacement drive for 30% of cost. My question is, is this a normal industry practice, or am I just naive? Any insights would be helpful for planning our next project.
