  1. "Start" Help

I know this topic should be left to die, but it brought up a lively debate at our site. Our thoughts were, "what happens when the door opens?" If the operation stops, the door switch would then be considered a safety device and should never be used to start an operation. For what its worth from some bored engineers.
  2. I have a question regarding warranties on servo motor drivers. We had an ELMO Bassoon motor driver fail after less then a year of service in a machine we built. When I contacted ELMO, they told me the warranty was one year from date of manufacture, not sale. Since the driver sat on our supplier's shelf for 18 months, they would not warranty the part. However as a courtesy they offered to sell us a replacement drive for 30% of cost. My question is, is this a normal industry practice, or am I just naive? Any insights would be helpful for planning our next project.
  3. IDEC PLC

I agree with "Crossbow" I picked up a USB to serial cable at Staples and now I can switch between WinO/I and WinLdr without swaping cables. It makes for lot faster debug ging.
  4. relay out vs sink/source

Hey All, Kind of a side note, What is the excepted norm for PLC SS "relays". NPN or PNP? We have started designing/building a lot of automation cells and we would like to standardize our sensor types. Thanks, M.C
