  1. WinCC Flexible Hover Info

Hi all, I'm using Wincc Flexible 2008. When I hover the cursor over an object field for a few seconds up pops a window showing various info including the relevent tag associated with the field. Is it possible for this hover window to also show the address associated with the tag? I'm fed up having to then search the tag window or go into the field properties for the associated PLC address of a field I'm interested in! Just looking for a quick method. Thanks.
  2. Monitor PLC through iPhone

You could try using remote VNC via a PC? I can do this on a PPC phone.
  3. Cross Referencing

I did try that. But in this example it still did not show the block move instance. I guess it's because the block move does not mention a specific word, only the start bit of the move destination?
  4. Cross Referencing

Hi all, I'm using Step 7 v 5.4 to analyse how some software works on one of our S7-300 PLC's. Some of the rungs have contacts referring to a DB eg DB21.DBX2.5. If I cross reference these, they appear to be used nowhere else in the program, so appearing to be actually made or not made from nowhere! After trawling through the program, I found that a block move is used to transfer all the digital Inputs as words in one hit into DB21. This move only has the source block P#I 0.0, destination start address P#DB21.DBX0.0 and block length 8 bytes. All the digital inputs are then read from DB21 everywhere in the program. I'm used to CX Programmer, where even if you cross reference a single bit, it will also show all instances in the program where this bit appears as a bit or within a word. Is there a way to do this in Siemens Step 7. If I hadn't found the block move manually I'd have had no clue as to where these bits came from! Thanks!
  5. Profibus S7 to Omron CJ1

Hi, I'm trying to transfer data between an 315-2 DP and Omron CJ1M with an PRT21 profibus slave module. I believe I need to install the gsd file in Step 7 in order to do this? I tried installing the attached gsd file from the PRT21 manual, but Step 7 says there are syntax errors in the file. Can someone shed any light on this, or explain the steps I need to take? I've renamed the attachment .txt in order to upload to this site. Thanks! OC_0602.GSD.txt
  6. HANS BERGER STEP7 BOOK

I have a spare copy you can have for free. Only £40 postage!
  7. CX Designer Simulator

Many thanks, that did the trick!
  8. CX Designer Simulator

I can simulate a screen with a virtual PLC. Is there a way to simulate a screen with an actual PLC attached via the serial port? Thanks!
  9. Siemens S7 200 password protection

I don't think this is possible. Even with the password I think you would need the source code. If the manufacturer agreed in the contract to supply the schematics and code, you should threaten them with a legal letter. You could also eat humble pie and phone them asking them nicely to e-mail the code. That said, if the machine has been working, the software will not have changed and you most probably have a hardware issue. Monitoring the PLC would no doubt help in a repair, but I would check all the hardware signals and machine timing first. Nick
  10. Grafcet

Hi, We have an existing application that has three S7-300 PLC's. We have the source code which is all in STL. We also have some paperwork showing Grafcet SFC's. Does anyone know how Grafcet is converted to Siemens STL? Is there a software application, or would it be done manually? I know you can use HiGraph or S7 Graph, but I don't believe this has been used in this case as the SFC documentation only mentions Grafcet and the symbology is slightly different. Thanks, Nick
  11. PRPHL LED

A202.00 to 07 appear to be on all the time. Maybe this is because the serial port is always in use for transferring data. I'm only looking for an indicator for the peripheral port in use. Ta. The PRPHL led is a purely electrical signal letting you know that there is an electrical communication on that port. (a bit like the input leds) check bits A202.00 to 07
  12. PRPHL LED

Hi, We've started using WiFi to enable us to monitor and connect to CJ1M PLC's as we have nearly 100 of these on site. The PLC's are connected via the serial connection on the peripheral connector into our local network. As all the PLC's are hidden in racks, I want to light an LED on the front of a rack when someone is connected to a particular PLC via the peripheral port over the Wifi. I tried looking at A393 and A394, but these don't change when I'm connected. Does anyone know of a bit that is set that mimics the PRPHL LED on the front of the CPU? Thanks.
