  1. Hi Guys- I have a very basic electronics question that I need answered in order to operate this device with my AB PLC. I was thinking that there was some way to incorporate some basic electronics elements (resistors, capacitors, etc..) to generate a 0-10 or 4-20 signal?? I think I've seen this done before with those electronics and a "component holder" style terminal block... Inputs available: 4-20mA 0-10VDC Potentiometer Output (200mm Stroke unit):
  2. Sure thing, I am a Turck distributor and some of our customers go wacky for the RA connector! ben
  3. Ken- Thank you for the informative & helpful replies. I'll run with the 32E and RS Logix 5000 Lite. Hopefully my buddy who recently went to work for the Dark Side can offer us a good price on the SW. ben
  4. Ken- Thank you for the comprehensive reply. 1100 vs CompactLogix - What does having an 1100 offer me if I have a CompactLogix PLC? Are the environments and setup of E-IP devices that different? ERM - I don't think we need this for our current product offering, as I can't think of any devices that offer CIP E-IP connections. Even our motion products (ABB drives, Emerson drives, IAI stepper/servo controllers, etc) are just on a standard E-IP network. SLC - We'll probably pass on this for now. We are almost always selling into either new machine builds or complete controls retrofits. I can't recall the last time I had a customer running our products with an SLC. Edit: I'm now told that our company has a 1769-L32E processor in our spare parts bin. Will this suffice in place of the CL unit you recommended? Any limitations we might encounter? Thanks, ben
  5. Michael- That is the exact myth that we are working to dispel! Many of our customers use non-AB peripherals (cameras, servo drives, safety controllers, etc) on their E-IP networks. But, I am not 100% certain that the ML1100 will facilitate all common types of E-IP communications. Edit: After Googling this topic in more detail, I think the conclusion is that a CompactLogix PLC and ControlLogix 5000 is needed for IO scanning and implicit messaging. Is this correct? ben
  6. Hey Guys- I am new to the forum and AB PLCs... I work for an industrial automation component (sensors, motion, vision, networking, etc) distributor. Most of our customers use AB PLCs, but then use best in class products for the peripherals. A common hurdle we have to clear is proving our devices are easy to integrate via ethernet-IP. So that we can be smarter on this topic and also help our customers, we are going to buy an AB PLC with Ethernet IP Comms and setup communication demos and tutorials with our products. Which AB PLC should I be considering for this purpose? I have been reading about the ML1100, which is alluring due to its cost point and free software. Will I be missing any key communication or other features by using this PLC? Should I be considering something different? Thanks! ben
  7. I saw you asked (2) times for an industrial ethernet cable with a Right Angle connector, so I decided to sign up for this website and answer your question as a "thank you" for your writeup. I believe Turck has what you are looking for: http://www.turck-usa.com/illustrations/B3027_H22.pdf ben
