  1. I was able to test some of the things you mentioned today and got it working. Thanks much for the help! What a relief! And just in time for the PLC 5 to go end-of-life in a couple months.
  2. I was sourcing directly 12mA from my meter. One way and then the other to make sure it wasn't a mistaken polarity issue. It never not read 0.  I will need to test the changes you mentioned and report back. Thanks for the tips!
  3. I'm not on site so i'll have to stick with this out of focus picture. I believe my jumpers are set up correctly for dif.f current based on the manual and page from it you posted.      SP3_caustic.RSP
  4. I have a 16 slot chassis (1771-A4B) with an AB PLC 5/10. I am trying to add a new 12bit analog IO card (1771-IFE) but its been a couple years since I last did this and I am not having success.  I am using the first 3 differential input channels.  Hopefully someone can spot my error and provide some feedback I am setting up this card for 4-20mA diff inputs. I believe these jumpers are correct:   Its in slot 13. 3rd card from the right side of the rack.  The chassis is using 1 slot addressing. I believe this makes this card Rack 001, group 5, mod 0.    I never received source files for this PLC. All I have is an upload from it. I believe because of this the chassis config is blank save for the card I am adding now. Is this an issue? I have the following logic in my program to config the card and transfer data:   The config data file is for differential inputs. 2s compliment format and 0-100 scaling.    When I run this I can not get any good readings from the card. Is there a step I missed?
  5. I am reassigning some IPs on my plant floor. I don't have the project file for any of the PanelViews. I have uploaded the run time application file and used application manager to restore the project. My question is can I successfully change the communications IP of the PLC that PV connects too using this method? That is: going to the communications setup and re applying the target device to the new IP of the PLC. Then creating the runtime and downloading to the PV. Will that work well or am I going to run into issues that I am not aware of? Thanks!
  6. First off... shame on me for not doing my homework before purchasing all the equipment. Second- shame on Rockwell for doing this... it could of been an amazing system if they just made the Stratix 6000 SFP 100/1000Base. The stratix 8000 series and 6000 series switches seem like a great combo at first glace but don't make the same mistake I did. My plan was to use a 8300 as the master with 6000s throughout the plant connected to the master via fiber. I can add a fiber expansion module to the 8300 and have so many fiber drops to 6000s all over my plant. Wrong. The Stratix 6000s SFP port is 1000Base ONLY. If you plug a 100Base SFP in there it will not work, I confirmed this today by trial and error and by contacting support. Ok so no big deal, I have to use the 1000Base. Except the 8300 only has 2 1000Base fiber ports. The fiber expansion module for the 8000 series is 100Base and the SFP expansion modules are only 100Base as well. There is no 1000Base fiber expansion module at this time. So basically you are only able to connect 2 Stratix 6000s direct to your 8000/8300 via fiber using the 2 on-board 1000Base ports. I am having to use a bunch of media converters (ewwww) to convert my 1000Base drops from the 6000s to 100Base to connect to my switch now.
  7. Are there any other guides or demo projects out there on getting started with a Omron NB HMI? The start up guide and demo project that comes with the software seems to be lacking. I am still having issues getting connection to my CompactLogix.
  8. Is there such a device to send 2 or more 4-20mA signals over a single pair cable, digitally or however it needs to a box on the other end that will split it back up to its analog form? The protocol it uses to send over the cable is irrelevant as long as the signals on the other end are intact and update at least once per second. Is there a wireless version of the same thing that will work over 300’ open air?
  9. it can not. it goes to v13 and no later. Can I use the firmware flash utilities available here to test it? http://compatibility.rockwellautomation.com/Pages/MultiProductFindDownloads.aspx?crumb=112&refSoft=0&toggleState=&versions=612
  10. I have a 1769-L30 that I would like to put on ebay but want to confirm it is working before I do so. I have RSLX5k V19... which will not work with this controller. I was wondering if there is another way I can verify that this controller is working before selling it?
