  1. I have done some searching, I hope this is possible but I have a bad feeling. Anyway, in Factorytalk View Studiio, I want to make string that is generated by a plc value. I want to basically do nested tags and get a value.  Anyone know if this is possible or have the syntax In the expression box: {[PLC]tagname1[ {PLCtagename2[1]} ]} My goal is to set the tag name with a tag.. Yes I know it can be done in the PLC... how ever I want to know if it can be done Thanks Jeremy
  2. How to connect CP1L USB

Step 1: Open vmware.log file Step 2: Search for the Driver name [Omron] Line Should look Simular to USB: Found device [name:OMRON-PLC vid:0590 pid:005b path:1/9/1 speed:full family:vendor instanceId:USB\\VID_0590&PID_005B\\5&1E41AFF0&0&2 arbRuntimeKey:2 version:3] Step 3: Copy down the vid value and pid Value (Ex. 0590 and 005b) Step 4: Open the vmware.vmx file Add the following, substituting the numbers found for vid and pid usb.quirks.device0= "0xvid:0xpid skip-reset, skip-refresh, skip-setconfig" Will look like: usb.quirks.device0= "0x0590:0x005b skip-reset, skip-refresh, skip-setconfig" Step 5: Restart VM

  4. Quick question, but can Factorytalk View Studio read the tag descriptions in Logix designer. I would like to make the alarms just read the PLC tag descriptions and since the comments are now stored on the PLC, I am wondering if we have access to them from the HMI... Thanks in advance.
  5. Ethernet & RSLinks

Here is what I found from AB
  6. Hello everyone. Been working with Control logix processor. My problem is browsing though the back plane of a control logix processor. We have 2 x 1756-ENBT in the rack. AB told me that I could connect in one Ethernet card and browse through the back plane into the 2nd network. We need to do this a the one network card is for the local machine (HMIs, IO etc) where the 2nd Ethernet card is for the factory and programing. They have one desktop computer hooked up to 5 or so machines... The problem is we cannot browse though the back plane to get to the HMIs to download updates etc. I have attached a screen shot of what I see when I am connected to the network: As you can see... we cannot browse though the back plane. I am plugged into slot 3, and cannot access any of the devices in slot 2 or 4. Any help would be appreciated Thanks
