  1. OK guys, I know this is going way back but I am sure there are some guys who have seen this before. I have a 1394 servo running a 2 axis pick and place connected to a PLC5 via RIO. This is on an old machine that was just moved to another location. I verified that the pick and place worked before disconnecting it for the move. Now I have it all powered up again and I am having trouble getting it to run. I can get online with GML Commander and turn on feedback, home both axis, move them but I am having trouble getting the output to the PLC to work which won't allow me to run in auto. I can see all of my inputs from the PLC but in monitoring the outputs for the RIO adapter they all stay at zero like they are being told to stay off. It has been about 8 years since I last worked on one of these so I am rusty and I am sure it is something simple that I am missing. I have checked all of the wiring and everything looks good there. All my lights are good with just the axis module lights flashing green until I manually turn on the feedback then they go solid green. I have no faults. Any help would greatly be appreciated as I need to have this thing running by next week. Thanks, Larry
  2. Rockwell told me this an issue several people have had and they have no fix for it. I have a 3 million dollar boat anchor sitting here that is supposed to go into production next week. I am running a Compact Logic 1769-L30ERM and a 1769-SDN DeviceNet card. No matter what I do or what stage of the setup process I am in this occurs. I have shortened my network to a short cable within my main panel and one device. The module will be working one minute and reset to defaults the next. The codes that flash when this happens are 20 E0 Er 64 and it reverts back to node 63 and baud 125K. Firmware versions are 20.12 in processor and 4.2 in the module. This is the second module that I have tried and the first one as flashed to v4.3. I need help bad!!! Has anyone worked around this issue?
  3. Hi Guys, I know there are some network gurus out there that can help me. I have a machine network which includes a Compact Logix, 2 Powerflex 700s drives, 3 powerflex 40 drives, and a Wonderware HMI computer. These are connected to an unmanaged switch which is connected to a Stratix 8300. I am trying to set the Stratix switch up so that my network is viewed through the FA1/1 -4 ports and use the Gi1 ports for connection to an outside network with a different IP where I can access my network through a VPN. I have two Vlans with one setup with My network ip which is 192.168.1.254 SN 255.255.255.0 Can anyone give me a way to do this in simple terms? I have tried for two days with no luck. My engineer has had this working but I'll be darned if I can make it work. I have been trying to connect my computer to simulate an outside connection but cannot ping through to the machine network Any help would be appreciated
  4. Hi Guys, I've got a customer who wants me to calibrate the thermocouples on their oven. These thermocouples(K-type) are tied to Flex I/O 1794-IRT8 modules. I have a couple of questions about this. Is it necessary to calibrate the IRT8 module itself (it is supposed to be calibrated from the factory) or just to apply an offset for each thermocouple after testing it accuracy? My problem is I am having trouble finding a reasonably priced mV source to supply the needed +/- 320mV AB calls for in the calibration procedure (see attached Pub 1794-6.5.12 Section 6). That value seems a bit high to me anyhow for a thermocouple. I intend to check the thermocouples with a dry well calibrator to determine if an offset needs to be applied. Would this be the correct way of doing this? Thanks 1794_um012__en_p.pdf
  5. Thanks for the fast replies as always guys. Just what I needed to know
  6. Hi Guys, I am installing ethernet cards in a few of my customers lines to be used for remote access. They are 1756-ENBT cards in a ControLogix rack. My question is is it necessary that they be configured in the PLC for this purpose if there is going to be no items controlled with them? By just plugging them into the rack and setting up the IP address with RSLinx I am able to see everything on the backplane and upload/download from everything. It's just that they want it done this week and shutting the machines that are in production down to upload the program is a big lengthy hassle. Thanks
  7. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. Shortly after I had posted I realized that I had the wrong version of RSNetworx for use with RSLogix 5000 V17. I had v8 instead of v9. I downloaded the new version and problem solved. Thanks Again
  8. Hi Guys, I am having a problem with my ControlNet. I tried to add another module to the PLC program and schedule it. It didn't work the first time so I deleted the module and tried again. This time everything on the ControlNet stopped communicating and I get an error 16#0004 Connection Request Error: Bad segment on the CNB card. Any ideas? I've tried everything that I could think of. I am using a ControlLogix 5561 processor with a 1756 CNB/E controlnet card. I have several 1794 ANC15's (one of which I was trying to add) and several PowerFlex drives on the network. Thanks, DoubleL
  9. Hi Guys, I have a question about data gathering. Is it possible to extract data from an Allen Bradely PLC (PLC5 or Contrologix) without using RSLinx? Thanks, Doublel
  10. OK here is the information that my parts guy sent me. It is a power point presentation. Ignore the prices because they are probably not right. Not sure if it's the same info that you have but this list the part number for the upgrade. Hope this helps. DoubleL Presentation3.ppt
  11. My parts guy is getting me the info he has on this. I should have it tomorrow and I will post it.
  12. Hi JohnM, That is a great diagram. My setup is a bit different though. We have a small network at our office to allow multible computers internet access. We have a test line there that I would like to connect to the network so that I can access it for maintenance and to test various things. Our line has an AB ethernet modem tied to a Contrologix and a Wonderware touchscreen. If I connect this to our network and access one of the computers via VPN that stay on all the time instead of the SCADA computer it should work the same shouldn't it. Thanks, Doublel
  13. The LCD upgrade for PV1400e is real. We have quite a few of them(PV1400e) on our machines and I have upgraded two customers already. I can get you the info on this if you need it.
  14. OK see ya there. And BTW thanks for the help so far.
