  1. Use plc to print barcode

Any PLC with a serial module capable of ASCII output should do the trick. The bar code printer would have to handle internally the encoding of that string of text characters from the PLC into the proper bar code. And with so many bar code formats out there, I would expect most bar code printers have some capacity for this.
  2. 4-20ma pressure transducer direct to CPU 224XP?

That would be one way, assuming you have not already invested in another. I've seen devices before to convert an analog signal to a voltage signal, but I would always side with buying the right device out of the gate before using a patch like a converter.
  3. A1SJ71UC24-R2

Well if you have a serial printer, that might be an option. if you have a parallel or USB printer, you're stuck. I don't know if that module supports ASCII output for a printer. Might want to have a go at the manuals on www.meau.com and see what the options are with that card. I do know it's an RS232 serial communications module.
  4. TCP/IP, Gateway addr, Masks, etc.

Basically the difference is connecting multiple networks is simple. Computers who are not part of the same subnet cannot see each other without a router. That's the default gateway setting on the units. If it cannot find an IP address in it's local address, it will direct that traffic to the default gateway. The gateway is the device which needs to have a routing table that explains who it needs to talk to for tranmitting to the other networks. Say PC 1 is 192.168.0.10. Say PC 2 is 192.168.1.10. PC 1's default gateway (typically 192.168.0.1) would have a table entry that told it how it is supposed to forward packets to the 192.168.1.x network. PC 2's default gateway would tell that network how to talk to the 192.168.0.x network.
  5. Congratulations Crossbow!

Thanx! Still #8 all time, but hey, it's not the quantity, it's the quality!
  6. 4-20ma pressure transducer direct to CPU 224XP?

224XP has 2 built in analog inputs. But they are -10V to +10V. Not current. So you still need the expansion module for analog inputs of a current type.
  7. advantages of s7 200 over logo! <--- newbie alert

S7-200 is a PLC. As such, it has more capabilities, including floating point math. Logo is a smart relay. While Logo does have a basic programming language, it is NOT a PLC. It's designed for simple timer/counter/time clock applications, not for high end control systems. S7-200 adds data logging, high resolution analog, modem and network capabilities, and more.
  8. Can't get inputs to work on CPU224XP

    Inputs are I0.0, not E0.0.
  9. Advantage / Disadvantage

Anders, Beijers has in fact made some updates to MEDOC, but these are not approved by Mitsubishi, and they do not support the new PLCs. If you need to import the project into GX Developer, the newest version of MEDOC which can be imported is the last official Mitsubishi release, which was 2.30.
  10. GT Works/Designer

So going from a DU to an F940? You do realize the F940 is also obsolete, and you should be considering the GT11 units.
  11. Using Flash Card on QxxHCPU

New memory cards out of the box are NOT formatted. You need to use the Online menu on GX-Developer, choose Format PLC Memory, then choose the drive of the memory card (Memeory Card (RAM)). You must format new cards before use.
  12. Shihlin SEPLC A1-40MR

Good luck with that. Mitsubishi stopped selling them about 2 1/2 years ago. If you find one, it's been on the shelf for a while. I know some Mitsubishi offices have them in their labs which they can rent out, but you cannot buy them new from Mitsubishi anymore. I used to work for a distributor myself.
  13. A2N CPU, AD61 AY42, AD57 and AX42

I can't give you a sample as I don't have one. I've never had to use one. I've never really had to work much with the old 10" large A series PLCs. Mostly the small A1S series, Q series, and FX series.
  14. Extending memory

In the FX1N, you can reserve file registers in blocks (each block takes up 500 steps of program memory, but gives you 500 registers). This is done in the PLC Parameters. So you can have the 8000 built in registers and use some of the extra program memory to create up to 7000 file registers. In the FX3U, you get 8000 data registers and 32768 file registers.
  15. A2N CPU, AD61 AY42, AD57 and AX42

Well for one thing it's all obsolete. A2NCPU is a PLC processor. AD61 is a high speed counter module. AY42 is a 64 point transistor output module. AD57 is a CRT/LCD controller. AX42 is a 64 point transistor input module. Manuals are available at www.meau.com for all of them.
  16. I need to know if there is a way from my PC to upload the program on a TSX47. As far as I've seen in the old docs, the software was OS2 based. I've got a customer who needs to replace the PLC and doesn't have a printout of the program. I have the old FTX401 handheld programmer, but really want a printout to rewrite into a new PLC. Otherwise he has another identical machine with a Westinghouse PC1200 controller, anyone know how to upload that one?
  17. new S7-200 user, please help

One hour and two hour primers from Siemens are attached. You can also find same code at www.siemens.com/s7-200 in the Tips and Tricks section or the Micro Automation Sets have program examples too. You should have checked the downloads section. The Tips and Tricks, the one hour and two hour primers were already there. S7_200_1_Hour_Primer.pdf S7_200_2_Hour_Primer.pdf
  18. I wrote it on a Q02H. So I printed it to a PDF. I've attached it here. Timer_Example_Print.pdf
  19. Certified Mitsubishi Engineers

I thought I had posted this, but I don't see it here. The links at www.mistubishi.co.uk/automation are updated as of 2/7/2007. Go into Contacts and then select the MCE List. They couldn't tell me why the www.certified-engineer.com site was not updated. But the current list is available on the Contact page of their main website. It is still an active program. In fact other countries are starting to get it on the program. On another note, I know all about the 'flash' certifications. i did all the work and attended the classes and got my Scheider Certified Transparent Factory Engineer. Which basically means I know Ethernet and web pages and how they apply to the Modicon PLCs. And no more than 3 months after I got my certification, they trashed the whole program and sacked the contracted training company who developed it. Oh well... it's another line on the ol' resume.
  20. Change FXEprom 8 to FX EEprom8 on FX1

You don't change the chip on the board. There are different memory modules based on EPROM or EEPROM memory.
  21. Traing Suggestions

Check the training schedule at www.meau.com. They offer classes on all of their products. The classes that would interest you the most would be the Q Motion Controller (they have one this week) and the servo classes MR-J3. I know they are working on training on the QD75 modules. As for the Alpha2, it's a nice little device for the price. I use one to control my outdoor lighting, pool pump, and xmas lights.
  22. Certified Mitsubishi Engineers

I notice that now too. I'll ask my contacts at Mitsubishi UK if it's still a working process.
  23. Melsec Medoc to GX Devoloper

Which version of MEDOC? The GX Converter only supports up to 2.30, which was the final official release by Mitsubishi. Beijers did update MEDOC to 2.41, and those files are not supported by the converter as they changed the file formats slightly when they added additional PLCs. Download it to a PLC in MEDOC and upload it in GX Developer. Then import your documentation.
  24. Password setting -Medoc

Can't password protect the program, just the PLC. You can use a password to prevent someone from uploading or downloading the program, but you cannot protect with a password the file on the PC. Of course the easiest method would be to put it in a password protected ZIP file.
  25. Advantage / Disadvantage

Three different methods to program a PLC? I'm confused? Sober, drunk, hung over?
