  1. Panelmate 3000

Hacking, bypassing or any other means of unauthorized access to password protected devices/software is not promoted on this forum.
  2. Instead of rewriting the logic for each set of variables, write it once and you can store the different variables and load them into the presets for the counters and timers. for example, if button X on the hmi is pressed to enable recipe A, load variables N into T1 PRE, M into C1 PRE, and one down the line using MOV commands. This will minimize your program.
  3. Cameras

Thanks, yeah it is a possibility that the cust will see the price tag and just continue to use manual labor. That was the concern with the color sensors, it the porosity causes inconsitency, they already have that in human error.
  4. Cameras

looking at all options, already spoke to Keyence, meeting in person next week with a demo. The main concern is that the surface is porous, like a brick, and the rep was not confident that the sensor would accurately detect hue variance. Concern A: If an item has the same color mix, but is a darker hue, will it distinguish. Concern B: If external lighting variables change, the amount of recieved light could fool the sensor into thinking the hue is not correct. Right now the line is manually loaded, and this will probably not change. I was trying to avoid having, at the start of each run, a teach session where QC loads a sample in front of the sensor and that is recorded for process accuracy.
  5. Prox Sensor

I have had many customers request using similar devices for safety. The problem is, most standard devices are not failsafe. A safety device has some sort of redundancy built into it, like a NO and NC contacts, or self diagnostics, dual processors with crosscheck ect. Never let someone who doesn't know any better convince you to circumvent what is required. Like you said b, how much is a hand or a life worth. And if you are the integrator responsible for installing the less than adequate equipment, it could be your business, reputation, livelihood.
  6. DL06 Drum Sequencer Timing

It is not clear in the examples that DS has in their database but if you want you can also have a "hold' or 'pause' feature in the process. If you create a step with a time and no outputs selected it will work. I have used this in mixing apps where the product needs to sit for a time period before being moved to the next step.
  7. Are there any requirements or specifications that need to be met?
  8. cant find home

Is position solely based on electronics, or do you have a hardwired device that confirms it. If you have say a prox and it meets/detects each station it could be that the sensing point at station 6 is further away from the prox minimizing the contact area and allowing overshoot issues can't decel to stop before reaching far side of sensor area).
  9. Panelview

Just a follow up. I wrote everything down on all the config screens and all my addressing schemes and masks looked good. Enterprise was still installed. The Runtime config was proper and allowed for simulation on the laptop without problems. So I went with the old clear everything, set to defaults, wipe the flash memory and program and started over. Working fine now, dang gremlins.
  10. I am working a project with a new Panelview Plus 1000. I had everything set all all well and good, loaded project and could make changes, view changes in states when toggling bits in the PLC, the whole nine yards. Now, suddenly, the panelview is no longer an accessable device. It shows in the tree of Linx and Enterprise, but with a red X through it. I made no changes recently that should have affected this. From my Command line I cannot get a ping response either. I have tried different cables, and different ports on the unmanaged switch I am using. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
  11. Panelview

Thanks that makes sense, I am concerned that the port shut down but I was not sure of possible causes. I did not make any changes to the Runtime configuration but I will make sure to go over them again. I went as far as directly hooking a cable up to the port that I had just speed tested on my internet link so I was sure the cable was good, and still nothing. I was curious (I don't play with panelviews much) if there was a way to get into a command mode on the screen and do ping testing. I did set the panel back to default after the loss of comms
  12. DIV Instruction

In the help menu it states simply, Divide is a 16 bit instruction that divides the BCD value in the accumulator by a BCD value (Aaaa), which is either a V memory location or a 4 digit (max.) constant. The first part of the quotient resides in the accumulator and the remainder resides in the first stack location.
  13. Panelview

done and done, the laptop was never disconnected from the switch all day, making tweaks to plc and panelview program, could see everything in the tree. In other words, communications were established and working fine. Then as i said suddenly the panelview is no longer accessable.
  14. If you always look for the largest piece you can cut first it should work better. Do they have a preference on order of size? or just that scrap is minimum. try statements for: Blade 1: if input (board size) is greater than max value and less than min value X 2 then cut at max size subtract max size + kerf = remainder a if input is <max >med then cut at med size subtract med size + kerf if input is <med >min then cut at min Blade 2: if remainder a is > max and < min X 2 then cut subtract max size + kerf cascade the functions this way and it should work
  15. Ethernet Problem

Yeah you would almost have to do a router on a stick config with VLAN configs
  16. In device manager uninstall the com port, reboot, and try another application. By setting that up exclusively you have changed the defaults of the com port so it doeant want to be used by anything other than that driver, even though the driver is 'deleted' from rslinx. Really that just means it is inactive, not really deleted.
  17. Did you set it up for exclusive use on that computer? Is this part of a project involving an HMI (if you saved settings to runtime config the driver will be active in FactoryTalk) if so it needs to be removed from that configuration as well.
  18. Ethernet Problem

I am fairly new at networking but correct me if I am wrong I think I see a couple problems. With a mask off 255.255.255.128 that means you have 126 free nodes for each subnet, starting with X.X.X.1, or X.X.X.130 (X.X.X.0 and X.X.X.129 being the default gateways). If the laptop is 155.124.21.239 and your PLC is 155.124.184.180, they aren't even on the same network. The network addresses are 155.124.21.128 node 111 for the first and 155.124.184.128 node 32. Now the two nodes being less than 128 designate them in subnet one with the mask you are using, but the network addresses are not the same so it does not matter.
  19. animation problem

Thanks again for all your replies. Turns out in my haste I had a backslash-frontslash inversion issue (mr. thumbs) causing the tag to be invalid. The editor did not catch that it was invalid. Everything works fine. Also, am I the only one that thinks the background patterns available stink.
  20. We have FTSV ME 5.1 and are using a 1769-L23 Processor. I am trying to use the three blade fan from the library, which lists system\BlinkFast as an example of animation. I wasnt this fan to simply run if the input from my drive is active. I have tried various expressions and have had no luck. Any suggestions would be helpful. The latest expression was if {tag} == 1 then system\blinkfast else 0 the behavior I am getting is that everything works the way I would like in demo and then in runtime when I trigger the input the shading goes away and I am left with just the outline of the fan, stuck in a 180 of its original position. Any chance the blinkrate is too fast for the screen I have designed, it is a color 10" panelview, but I do have a good amount of graphics thanks for the help, have browsed and searched for help on this with no luck.
  21. Ethernet Problem

I know it seems pretty basic but have you confirmed your cable is good. I have seen all to many times a reliable cable go bad or a new cable be no good and after a long time troubleshooting that is where you end up. Just a thought...
  22. animation problem

Thx again Ken you have been quite helpful. The only difference I see is that I am using a fan and the label is propeller 3. The point I should have made initially is that when I first set this up and tested, I had rotation. This was using the default settings on the item. Once I tried to modify them my problems began so I do not think it is a matter of selecting the wrong object. I will try your syntax suggestions and see what that does for me. Can AB make the language in their help feature any more unclear!

  24. animation problem

Thanks for the idea, I doublechecked my syntax but I am selecting the tag right from the editor....I do have other working animations, verified by toggling bits in the program, that create color changes in objects. It just seems the rotation of the fans will not work properly. Does AB have a clock/alternator built in like Eaton does? that would work simpler than cascading timers which I hear people trying to do repeatedly.
  25. animation problem

considering I wanted to do three fan animations and one part moving on conveyor (linear motion) that would be alot of timers for something that you would think is simple. AB couldn't put a function in there that did that like eaton?
