  1. Master Control

Thinking about it, the error said something about the length from the MC instruction was too long. I assumed as I couldnt see the vertical contact that was the issue. But I'm guessing that the problem isn't that. It is indeed that there are too many lines of code from the return instruction. If that is the case then all I need to do is move the return up a little and add another MC instruction using the same logic. Sorry for the misunderstanding, I miss read the issue and was looking in the wrong direction. I will pop down there and try this thanks Phil
  2. Master Control

OK, thanks for the info. If I go from Write to Read mode the instruction comes back into view. Thats great news but I have no idea why it does that. I will try to upload it to the PLC in read mode and see how that goes. The trouble is the machine is 100 miles away, so its not a 5min job. thanks for the help Phil
  3. Master Control

Hi, thanks for the replies. There was a vertical contact in the power line striaght after the instruction, when I down loaded it. As soon as I edit it, save it or send it back that contact dissapears and I cant seem to add it back again. The compiler then fails as it doesnt see the contact and causes an error, so its not sent. Ive ammended the screen shot to show what I mean, thanks, Phil
  4. Master Control

Hi, Thanks for the reply As far as I know the program was originally written in GX, the company has folded that did the work Im afraid. I did try it in GX IEC and it didnt look great, so it wasn't written in that. Heres a screen shot. The missing AND gate is between line 44 and 49. thanks again, Phil
  5. Master Control

Hi all, I have an issue with a program that has been written by someone else and I can't seem to get my GX Developer software (8.62Q) to work on it. Basically when I go on-line for the first time and download the program to the laptop I can see the [MC N0 M300] instruction, then under it there is a vertical AND with N0 beside it. If I save the file or modify it that vertical gate disapears and the program no longer compiles. [MC N0 M300] stays. Im guessing I have a setting ticked wrongly, or something like that, but I can't figure it out. I can not even add a vertical gate, so Im lost on this. thanks for the help Phil
  6. Thanks for that!!! I can't find any libaries on the IEC CD or on the Mitsi site Any help here would be great thanks very much Phil
  7. Hi all, without trying to sound a little slow here, but how do you open the function blocks and write them? Im a self taught programmer, used to asm and C, got into Mitsi programming at work, it would be good to play around with FBs a little, Phil
  8. 2 Isolators in one machine?

Arrgh, OK, now I understand, thanks for that! I will try and get to the bottom of what code we should be using, but as you say, there are a lot in the EU and most dont actually state exactly what you should do, they hint towards an idea rather than telling you what should be done Phil
  9. Guard Switches

Hi all, we have done a risk assesment and decided on cat2. So a Cat 3 and above would need 2 switches? Phil
  10. 2 Isolators in one machine?

Hmmm, so what you mean is if one supply shorts out then they both must trip out? Or do you mean if both short together? The two supplies are not on the same bus from what I gather. This install has been done by contractors under management supervision. We (the maintanence guys) have tried to point out that we dont think it's being done correctly, but we really have no idea what is correct Phil
  11. Guard Switches

Hi all, thanks for the replies. I did a PILZ safety course last year but can't recall if they ever mentioned needing 2 switches. We have risk assessed it and decided the catagory, but I thought that was for the safety relay selection. The switches are the correct standard (Allen Bradley Guard Master) but Im just not sure when 2 are needed Cheers Phil
  12. Guard Switches

Hi all, can someone tell me if I need 1 or 2 guard switches per guard on machines or does it depend on a risk assesment? Is there anywhere someone can point me to find out this info for sure as Ive only added 1 switch per guard on a machine Ive just finished and I need to ensure this is Ok many thanks Phil
  13. Hi all, new to the forum, so please forgive me if this has already been asked We are in the middle of adding a management system (basically a box that tells the network what status the machine is in) to around 40 machines. Each box is integral to the machine, in that it is bolted inside it or onto the main machine and there will be 240Vac connected to it. The main machine has an isolator that kills the power, but the managment system will still have 240Vac on it from an external supply. My question is, is this legal? I would have thought that an isolator should switch off all the power including the management system, as it is part of the machine once its bolted to it. thanks, Phil
