  1. Rockwell suggests Stratix switch.
  2. Hi there, Rockwell sales guy told me PV+ CE can support remote access through VPN. The connection is ethernet LAN connection. I talked to AB technical support, they suggested me to google Windows CE VPN. But I am still not quite sure what the remote access does. I want to sit in my office, type the different IP addresses and remote monitor the different PVs onsite. Did some one have experience with PV+CE?
  3. Thanks, Ken. Actually I think Micrologix1400 fits more in my application but the sales guy said ML1400 is not CSA approved so they dont suggest.
  4. Can somebody give me example how to configure messages bewteen Micrologix1400 PLCs and SLC5/05 PLCS through ethernet connection? Senerio: ML1140 to ML1100: ML1100 to SLC5/05: SLC5/05 to ML1100: (which is the communication command) Thanks in advance.
  5. SLC5/03 PLC

Thanks a lot, Ken. I am making a proposal to the client and I will post the network system on this site.
  6. SLC5/03 PLC

Hi Ken, When you mention that using DH485 to replace the ethernet between these PLCs , do you mean there is no limitation for the 1747-AIC link isolator to communicate with other device? If this is the case, I will consider it. Another requirement is that we want to remote download the program to each controller from our office. Therefore we need to install some card on our PC to enable the DH485 protocol. I have one more concern is about the panelview. We plan to use three panelview + CE on each line. They are displaying the same screen at different locations. Does it support a server client structure that we can use or must all mounted on the network? If each one need a connection and we use ethernet, does it occupy one incoming connection and one out connection? Also we try to find some OP which has the webserver function, then we can use it IE from office remotely monitor and control the OPs.
  7. SLC5/03 PLC

Thx, Ken. We have two lines. Each line has one master PLC function as a central data collector which need to communication with the other 8 PLCs in the same line. The only data exchange is between master PLC and other slave PLCs. There are no data exchange between the slave PLCs. There are total 18 PLCs on two lines and two exitsting standalone SLC5/03 PLCs. I checked the link you gave. Now the question is that can I choose SLC5/05 PLC as the master PLC and SLC5/03 + 1761-ENI-Net as the slave PLCs. Cause SLC5/03+ENI-NET is $2000 but SLC5/05 is $3200. Thx in advance.
  8. SLC5/03 PLC

Thanks, Guru. Is there any connection limitation issues regarding with the SLC5/05 PLCs.
  9. I have an old system to be upgraded recently. I would like to use (SLC5/03 + 1761-NET-ENI) for the ethernet communications. There are totally 20 SLC5/03 PLC involved. I saw there are some issues about 1761-NET-ENI module which stated that only six of them can communication at the same time. Did any body know if there is limitation for the NET-ENI module? Also I want to download program from PC in office to the different PLCs according to different IP address. How can I do that?
  10. Hey, Do anybody know that if I can use two PC modems dial out at the same time assume I have two seperated telephone lines? I need to use it one for alarm system and the other one for pager. Thanks in advance.
  11. Mitsubishi FX2N PLC

    Clearscada2009 + Kepware OPC server + Mitsubishi FX2N + FX2NC-ENET-ADP + FX2N-CNV-BD.
  12. Hi, Paulengr. I deeply appreciate for your proposal. It is a detailed solution for my application. I went through with it this morning and still have several questions need to be clear. 1. Question about phone line modem “You'd almost be guaranteed that the PLC modem would be set up as the server (answering), not the other way around.” Does it mean that only Scada PC can poll PLC but the PLC can’t poll HMI PC? 2. Question about radio modem Actually I would propose the wireless solution to my client. I found that Data-Linc SRM6000 Modem have the similar application for the RSview SCADA system in WWTP St. Augustin, Florida. And this kind of modem support DF1 full duplex protocol. My question is that where the protocol is used? (Between PC and modem) as well as (Between PLC and modem). Actually, I am not sure how to read DF1 data to PC by configuring RSlink in PC side or by OPC server or sth else. 3. Question about Ethernet extender “If you are familiar with Ethernet, then this approach is difficult but not impossible. Since there are protocol converters involved, setting those up can be very intimidating.” To my opinion, this Ethernet extender device can convert the RJ45 to RJ11, is there any other configuration need to do to use this? 4. Question about RS232/RS485 converter “RS-485 is related to RS-232 but gives you a range of several kilometers if run correctly. In this case you use your simple wire pair (phone line) again. You will have to convert the existing RS-232 signals on either end which are single-ended signaling into balanced differential signaling format. This requires a simple electrical device. ” It is a RS232/RS485 converter. Could phone line support RS485 protocol and which one should I use in phone line (2 wire RS485 or 4 wire RS485). Thanks.
  13. Hi Dear all, I would like to implement a Scada system based on one existing MicroLogix1500 PLC. The PC station and MicroLogix1500 is more than 500 meters away plus there is an existing phone line between those two. My question is as following: 1. What kind of modems should I choose (dial up or leased line)? 2. What protocol should I use? 3. When there is alarms occur, could the plc dial out to PC and send data to it? 4. I found that there is a function block AWA to configure the phone number, however, I didn't figure out how to send the required data to the SCADA system. Any help will be highly appreciated.
  14. Mitsubishi FX2N PLC

    Thanks a lot!
  15. Mitsubishi FX2N PLC

Did anybody have experience with ethernet communication between FX2N PLC and SCADA system? We have a Mitsubishi FX2N-64MR PLC onsite. We are trying to implement a scada system on a desktop PC which is 100 meters away from the PLC. I am thinking about adding an ethernet module FX2NC-ENET-ADP+FX2NC-CNV-BD and installing MX-OPC server or KepwareEX OPC server on the desktop PC. However, in the FX2NC-ENET-ADP manual, it states that "THe FX2NC-ENET-ADP enables the upload, download, monitoring and test of a program from the personal computer (GX-Developr or MX component) via Ethernet". Does somebody have the experience to use the Ethernet module?
