  1. I have a couple Camco 902RDM index units if you're looking for a good deal on a used one. How many index positions do you need? (hope this isn't against the rules!)
  2. If your concern is limited to being able to initiate the schedule with precise timing, you'll have no problems. In fact, your application may not even need a PLC.. It isn't uncommon on simple jobs to have a standalone weld timer run the show. I was thinking you wanted the PLC to change the schedule while the welder is operating. Not so sure you can do that!
  3. moving AB software

If you have a notebook w/o a floppy drive (common these days unfortunately) then your easiest solution as far as I know of is to get a USB floppy drive. They're very cheap, I just picked one up on ebay used for $18. I have used these before to load activation on floppy-challenged notebooks. You should install the latest version you have, no need to install the older ones first. When you have the program installed on the new notebook, use the evmove utility (like others have said) to transfer the activation from the old notebook's hard drive to the master floppy. Then repeat the process (in reverse) on the new notebook. You should then be a programmin' fool. If you have RSLogix, RSLinx lite, and Panelbuilder32, the only program you need to worry about activating is RSLogix. the others don't need activation.
  4. Heh.. If your McMc rep isn't up to date on current RSI policies, please let me know who he/she is.. I worked for Mac & Mac for several years and could probably see to it that they get educated :) I got my current employer signed up for TechConnect last year (come to think of it, it's getting to be renewal time) and was a bit confused at first like everyone else. After reading up, I insisted on the E-connect option because it is rare for us to call tech support. Email requests are usually sufficient for us. Given the number of software packages we have licensed to us, it probably ended up being a bit cheaper than purchasing renewals on all of them. I can see how it would benefit some and increase the burden on others, but for the most part I think it is a fair program. I can think of many other software vendors that charge for live phone support, I suppose it isn't unreasonable for RSI to operate that way as well. Like others have said, if this new support pricing leaves you worse off then the software renewals did, plead your case with your local distributor. Customer service is (well, SHOULD BE) what sets A-B apart from the competition. Your A-B distributor isn't (well, SHOULDN'T BE) just an electrical supply store, you're supposed to be getting the "personal touch". They're there to support you so use them wisely!
  5. Telephonic message in Rsview32

Mind you I've never done this before, but wouldn't you ASCII-write an AT command to the modem to dial your pager number, pause until the pager is ready for the number, have the modem "dial" the number, and then just timeout? (i.e. ATDT15551212,,,,,911)
  6. Well I'm in a shop that uses Entron EN1000 timers for resistance welding, but the 1500 might be a different beast. With the EN1000, the only way the PLC gets involved is to binary select the schedule and tell it to weld. The weld quality is strictly a product of the schedule you enter on the timer. It sounds like you're talking about adjusting the weld parameters on the fly.. If so then what's your feedback loop? How would you monitor the weld quality during the process? Does your weld controller accept an analog signal to adjust the current? I worked for a shop that did robot MIG welding, and the newer ones used a Miller Auto-Envision weld controller. The controller monitored the weld and self-adjusted during the weld cycle. We got pretty good results, but still the occasional burn-through :)
  7. PLC 2/20 COMM PORT

Is that the cable for connecting the PLC2 to a T3 terminal?
  8. Hey, do you have a MOS in the Army that involves PLCs? I'm a programmer right now. thinking about joining up, and wondering if there was a MOS that would make the most of a panel builder/programmer's skills.
  9. P4R Redundancy Cable

What is a "P4R Redundancy cable"? Or if you don't know, where was it referenced?
