Hi all, Can someone show me an example of an efficient way to manipulate data, Scenario; I need to capture a product [count] (no problem) and then move the total into a tag after a set time.(again ok). Lets say this tag is called [last_hours_total] and has a value of [7533], here is where I need a little help, when the next hour is up , yes you guessed it I need to move the [count] value into [last_hours_total] and move the value that was in [last_hours_total][7533], into [previous_hours_total] and so on... and so be able to present a record of production over, lets say 12 hours, on a HMI I dont have logix software on this PC so would appreciate an office compatable format, like .pdf or .doc Help much appreciated !!!

PV files, Can I compare apa files with mer
CH+ replied to CH+'s topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
Thanks for that idea, I have had a look at Scooters BC2 and this could very well be the answer to get files in order on this site. Unfortunatly I have inherited a culture where Contractors have been allowed to come and go as they wish, and no set protocols for storage or changes to software. -
PV files, Can I compare apa files with mer
CH+ posted a topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
I have various .apa files on the hard drive of my laptop. How can i be sure that I have the up to date or correct one when I want to edit a panel View page. Is there some way of varifying the apa with the mer. -
No, anything reasonably priced, what would you recommend. resolution is not an issue and the operation is multi turn, my thought was to use an Incremental, do you agree,

I am using a compact logix processor with a 1769 HSC card and am unsure which encoders to buy. The application is for a shelf loading carousel system. Consider a ferris wheel with 50 cars for the first encoder, I will want to re zero the value when each car hits a datum point. The second encoder is on a drive which pushes product into the path of each car prior to the car arriving at the loading area. This is mechanically cammed and a motor drives continually in the same direction while an arm pushes product in and retracts to home in a continuous move. One further consideration is either drive could be inched slowly in reverse from time to time to escape a jam I would like to keep it simple and hopefully deal with just a numeric value each time Thanks

Yeah, thanks. I'll try this one tomorrow when I get to work. I did manage to upload the .mer but when I tryed to run it , it started Station up and after about 2 minutes of egg timing came up with some error about not enough memory !!. I didnt persue it though

I am wondering if there have been any recent developments in the fight to modify RS View 32 programs when I dont have the .apa file

PVs, compactflash. Can I use any type
CH+ replied to CH+'s topic in Allen Bradley / Rockwell Automation
I dont think its the SO DIM RAM, as the supplier offers 128, 256 or 512MB at approx £200, £400 and £800 respectively, after reading your reply I checked the Manufacturers part no. and it looks genuinely expensive when I google it. I don't mind paying good money for good gear but this looks like an AB rip off compact flash -
Have had a compactflash card go down on a Panel View plus 700, looking for a replacement on RS there are regular makes like Fuji at around £10.00 for a 512MB or Allen Bradley at £800.00. Do I need to use the AB or can I format a standard one or something ???

Thanks to all, setting the subnet mask and IP did the trick. Your input is very much appreciated CH+

what should my Laptop IP/TCP be set to

ping times out, I have no reason to doubt the IP address document that I found, I have also tried to add the driver and getting the big red x, ihave tried the HMI IP with the same results. Just to re itterate, there is a 5 way ethernet switch with the PLC and HMI plugged in (and this is where I am attempting to connect too)

Thanx for that I'll give that a go.
