  3. Hi Everyone I have already posted this in reply to some one else but thought I wouls start a new thread, I am a "Technician" in support of Maintenance at a company in the UK, I have experience mainly in Modicon and AB but I am currently working with Mitsubushi as this is the chosen PLC for the company, my question is about GX IEC which seems to be used mostly in Europe. If I try to communicate with an A series FX1 or whatever with GX IEC without the program currently running from HDD, ie just a straight Serial connection, the only upload from PLC I can get is in List mode not ladder as in MM+ or GX Dev, can I convert this to ladder ? as I have taken over from the previous Tech who didn't feel the need to back up progs or just took them with him when he left! I realy need to back up all the PLC's here as there is not any archive material or Hard copies that I can find, I have been told that most of the Progs were written and downloaded using GX IEC and you need the original program running on HDD before you can connect and monitor, is this correct ? also if I connect using GX Developer (Not IEC) I get ladder but it looks as though most of the function blocks are broken down making a huge prog and difficult to follow, any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated. (Thanks guys to TW Controls and Collin Carpenter who replied to this on a previous thread) As an add on to this from previous posting I have traced the previous Technician who now works for a controls system integrator near by, it seems he left the company I work for after a bust up with the Works Engineer. Anyway he sent me the details of the systems house who installed the software for the major PLCs (Vacuum furnaces) and I have now got 8 MM+ versions (although the code has been heavily moded since) that I can import to GX IEC which will help, as for the rest (16 "A" PLC's) I am constructing I/O maps where ever possible with the use of the Scematics or documenting the GX dev programs from the same. Wish me luck guys and if anyone has any utils or tips I'd be glad to here them. Regards to all Thorny
  4. Introduction of myself

Hi Darlok, perhaps you may be able to help me, I am a "Technician" in support of Maintenance at a company in the UK, I have experience mainly in Modicon and AB but I am currently working with Mitsubushi as this is the chosen PLC for the company, my question is open to anyone to reply but as youve mentioned GX IEC which seems to be used mostly in Europe I guess you will have an answer. 5. PLC Training

Seimens S7 is THE most popular here in Europe, it seems as though most new installs are Seimens, its a good starting point, followed by Allen Bradley, ModiconTSX and lastly Mitsubishi (Mostly I have found in food and Beverage)
  6. dmov

I totaly agree, I sometimes have questions which may seem trivial to some but are of real concern to me and no matter how many times you read the manual it just dosent sink, sometimes a a simple reply from another user from another angle is all it needs. Lets not make anyone afraid to ask a simple question for fear of riddicule. We all had to start somwhere. Thorny
  7. FX1n comms

Hi Guys I need help, I have written a program in GPPwin and wish to load it to an FX1n plc although it was written originaly on the bench to a FX0n, I dont seem to have an option in Gpp to access an FX1n only an FX1, alternately is there a way to port the GPP program into GX developer. I have looked at GX but am unsure of how to program with it as I am an AB/ Modicon person and completely new to Mitsi. This is fairly urgent so any help would be appreciated. Thanks Thorny
  8. Ethernet comms to NT/Wonderware

Thanks Larry, I'll give it a go, thanks for your help Steve T
  9. Hi, I have had several problems like the one you describe on MB + and when I found the problem it was not the node that was throwing up errors but one several nodes away ? strange but true, another thing to try is schnieder engineers have a network analysis tool to check net work condition lenght etc, I used this service once and it was money well spent, that was five years ago and even know I only have to do regular tightness checks of the node connectors and thats it, it just runs and runs.
  10. Hi everyone, I have just joined a Company that is 95% Mitsi and I am still finding my feet as I have not used Mitsi before, Ther is a problem with the 10 base2 comms from an AJ71E71 to an NT based Wonderware scada. The Ethernet cable is thin net BNC from the mitsi to a BNC terminal on an intel hub, it then connects to the NIC on the NT Mc via UTP RJ45. This seems to problematic. I propose to use a Transiever fron the Mitisi card and UTP direct to the NT machine using 10base5, has anyone any knowledge of this before and will it work, I dont want to try it if its still going to give problems as the equipment is used 24/7 and I have to request down time to attempt the fix. All the mitsi code looks ok and the cables are ok, I have changed the AJ card so I just need to eliminate the hub. Any comments would be of help. Thanx
