  1. RSView Messenger Service

No the messages get sent via the modem as a SMS text message
  2. RSView Messenger Service

Some months on and still have this problem, I am convinced the problem is the sms service centre number, if I change the number for any other valid phone number (i.e. my own mobile number) then the modem dials that number quite happily (i.e. my mobile rings). Does anyone at all have the required service centre number for Vodaphone in the UK?, either that or maybe some other ideas:
  3. Hi All I have an application which currently has a Panelview Plus 1000 HMI, on which we have a number of trend graphs, currently the number of points available give us approx 28 days historical trending. We wish to be able to look back further than this. One of the solutions I have been considering is to replace the PV with the equivalent CE model & running data logging, recording & viewing software on there. Is this a reasonable solution?
  4. PAnelView Plus Data logging

Thanks for replying, I will look into that, dont think fitting CF card will help, as my understanding is that the limitation of number of saved points will still be the same, i.e 300,000 before the oldest data is over written.
  5. Proportional control help

Hi I have had numerous applications similar to yourself. only in my case 3 hydraulic rams are used to to set a gap between 2 rings with feed back via 3 LDVT from the rings to feedback the distance and the cylinders were either driven in or out by double acting solenoids, In my case I had one master which used the required gap as a target, the other two rams used the masters actual (i.e not target) gap as there targets. each ram had its own PID loop control, with parameters set to suit each ram. Hope this helps
  6. Hi As a newbie to Omron, I am experiencing a few problems with a project I am currently working on, basically it is an existing system which comprised 2 C200HS PLC's 1 Scada & A Beijers HMI each connected to a CS1G PLC by RS-232, The Scada and HMI are connected to a onboard SCU module, the PLC's to a rack mounted SCU module, all well and good and has been working fine for a number of years. As far as inter PLC communications was controlled, this was done in each of the C200 using TXD & RXD commands, all the CS1G does is mapping between different areas so that each device had the data it needs in its own memory areas in the CS1G. C200 are set to RS-232(no protocol?) and the CS1G set to Hostlink. Situation now is one of the C200HS has been replaced by a CS1G PLC, the original program has been converted using CX-One, the communications for the Host Link port have been set to be identical to the settings for the original C200, but communications can not be established, Discussions so far with Omron would suggest that eveerything we have done so far it should work, but it doesn't. Only thing that has been changed as far as cabling between the New CS1 and the existing is that it was discovered than pins 4&5 were not connected together on Omron advive it was suggested that they should be so these are now linked together but no change. Has anyone ever upgraded a C200 in this way before, or has anyone tried to establish communications between 2 CS1G before and if so how was it achieved, even can it be achieved at all? Any help or guidance will be greatly appreciated as this particular plant is out of use and needs to be pretty dang quick!
  7. C200HS to CS1G upgrade communication problems

Thanks guys, Problem in end due to conversion nt being as seamless as would have liked and differences between FCS TXD & RXD commands
  8. C200HS to CS1G upgrade communication problems

Hi, Thanks for replying, yes you are indeed right there is a hostlink master subroutine, As yet there has been no activity at all, on the led indicators, I have tried connecting to hyperlink to the port but again nothing forthcoming Malc comms.cxp
  9. Bus faults using MPI adapter

Hi A system I installed sometime ago has suddenly developed a strange fault which we appear to be able to find no reason for, in that there have been a number of issues with bus faults, the network consists of a 314C-2DP 2 x TP170B HMI & 15 SEW Movimot inverters. The system has been working well for over a year now with the occassional problem with the Movimots. Recently on advisement the client rewired the profibus network (basically just moving cable away from power cables etc) due to the fact that a fault could not be removed , there was also a issue where the CPU was suspected, this was changed by another company who uploaded the PLC program and configuration to download into a known working PLC, after this had been done the network appeared to be working, however if the MPI interface was removed from the profibus network the network failed i.e the PLC went into bus fault along with all the SEW drives. All settings have been checked, a previous hardware configuration has been downloaded to the PLC, (will point out that prior to the download the hardware configuration was uploaded and it was found to contain a number of nodes using the same io addresses, uploads since the download have been ok), also spoke to siemens tech support who say they have never come across this problem, Anyone got any ideas or come across this before?
  10. Remote Access

Hi All I am after some ideas & pointers about how I can connect remotely to a clients site and be able to monitor/diagnose the system. Basically the system comprises a CPU315-2 DP & 2 CPU314-2 DP all connected via profibus. The 315 has a CP343-1 which is connected to a scada system and the clients network. Ideally what I would like to connect via broadband in preference to modems and landlines. Thanks in anticipation
  11. Remote Access

Thanks understand that is what we need to do regarding access to the network etc but where I also need guidance is in terms of hardware etc
  12. Remote Access

Thanks for reply, pretty much same as was thinking , was just wondering if there was any way with out having to purchase extra licenses.
  13. Siemens Panel PLC?

Hi Yes it does exist apparently I recently tried to use one on a project but unfortunealty delivery times in the UK were against it plus it only has a monochrome screen where we need colour, what you are looking for is the Simatic C7 control system http://www.automation.siemens.com/simatic/...produkte_c7.htm
  14. Hi Could anyone tell me please if using System Works on a PC that has RsView V7.0 installed will cause problems with the activation keys
  15. S7 Profibus Communications

Hi Just wondered if anyone has come across a small problem I am having connecting to a Profibus Network with my laptop, until recently I have had no difficulty connecting to the network which comprises a S7-314C-2DP cpu, 2 x TP170B HMI, 16 x SEW Movimot Drives & 2x Wago 750 Profibus couplers. The network itself appears to be working fine i.e HMI screens all work ok (navigation done by plc code), drives all start/stop & run at speeds as they should & remote i/o all reacts ok, the problem I am getting is although accessable nodes displays all connected nodes including the CPU, if I click on the CPU icon it only goes as far as displaying the blocks folder but clicking on the blocks folder only gives me a message that connection cant be made or words to that effect, if I go into the block off line then try to go online i get the same message. Occassionaly in accessable nodes in brackets next to the CPU is (waiting). I have spoken to Siemens technical support who tell me they have not seen that before. If I go to another similar but smaller (only 6 drives 1 hmi no remote io) network on the same site I can connect without any problems, I have been able to connect to the network I am having difficulties with before without any problems this is only a recent issue. One possibility I did think of although again Siemens say it should not make any difference is that 1 of the drives & 1 of the Wago units are due to site work going on are at the moment powered down so effectively they are not connected to the network, again though this has not previously caused problems. Any ideas? Regards

Thank you I will investigate based on both comments next time I am on site Malc
  17. Analog inputs in Simatic s7 300 PLC

Hi Dont know if the example attached is what you require, but basically it works well for me, it gives you ability to scale the analog from a raw value to engineering values, also lets you set low and high limits on the scaled analog with debounce times, the scaled analog can be used for comparison as shown in example. Hope is of use, any queries just ask. Malc analogs.zip
  18. TD200C F Keys

Hi Not to familiar with the TD200 displays but one method I have used on other displays that set a speciific bit is that if it possible to set a screen number for the screen being displayed that can be read by the PLC is to use that in your code to reset the required counter.
  19. Parallel Outputting off a Logo

Hi Fairly common practice would be to drive the first conveyor contactor from the output then cascade all other conveyors from a auxillary off the first then use the last to give a running ip it required, see attachment cascade.bmp
  20. Need help with simple logic

    Try The attached example latchstartstop.bmp
  21. S7-300/Wago Configuration

Hi I currently have a system which comprises a S7-314C-2 DP which is link to a number of SEW drives & 2 WAGO I/O units this system is now commisioned succesfully and all is fine other than because of time delays between the PLC and the remote I/O I need to speed up the response time of some of the control. To acheive this I have replaced one of the WAGO Fieldbus modules (740-343) with a WAGO Fieldbus controller module (740-833) and I have programmed the controller so that the process can be controlled locally. this in principle appears to work, other than there appears to conflict between the I/O, as far as can establish I beleive this due to how the WAGO hardware is configured, i.e the hardware has to be configured so that the fieldbus controller can control the I/O and not the S7 PLC and then the S7 PLC I/O has to be mapped locally in the WAGO unit to access the local I/O. This all appears fairly straightforward other than the information as how to configure the S7 to communicate with the WAGO is lacking, reading through their manual the only comment is 'In Preparation'. Am I right in thinking that I need to use Siemens FB SFB52 (RDREC) & SFB53 (WRREC) to communicate with the WAGO unit? Any assisitance will be greatly appreciated
  22. S7-300/Wago Configuration

Basically I am looking at 2 inputs when both inputs are on after a short time delay typically less than 200ms i need to operate an output for about 120ms, as the process is checking items passing on a conveyor line the timing is quite critical, the baud rate is 1.5Mbps, the program scan time in the plc is typically 250ms, I have had the controls for this in a timed interrupt OB on a 50ms time slot but I do not get consistant enough control, the control is currently in a small local plc which handles the controls quite well, the reason this is no good as a long term solution is because the time variables will need to be changed depending on the conveyor speeds being used, also as the WAGO as a encoder input we may change to an encoder on the conveyor rather than using time for better control, again previous trials using the encoder with the control in the main PLC has not been reliable enough
  23. Hi I have an application where I need to add a second HMI to an existing system, the system currently comprises a SLC5/04 and a Panelview 600 connected via DF1, the second HMI only has DF1 available, so I was thinking of using a DF1 splitter (1747-DPS1), any comment/ better suggestions would be appreciated Cheers
  24. Hi I have a requirement to connect remotely to a SLC 5/04 one of my clients sites. The setup there is the SLC connected via DH to a PC using a 1784-PKTX card, the pc is running RSView version 7, there is a modem connected to this PC but there is no direct modem access to the SLC, any help/comments will be appreciated MC
  25. Remote Connection to 5/04

Thanks for that. We do have remote access to the PC but we do not have RSLogix installed. We can and probably will use a second modem connected to the serial port of the SLC but unfortuneately there is only 1 phone line into the installation. Obviously it is possible to switch the phone line between the two modems, the only problem with this is that the site is for the most part unmanned, so really all I was trying to do was improve remote support with what was available. The second modem in reality will be a solution that will improve what we have but unfortuneately not give us what would be ideal.
