BTW: Mitsubishi offers modems than can send email, SMS, fax without need to change the PLC program. Datalogging and webserver is also included. They use the PLC protocol (AL2, FX, Format1, Modbus RTU) to check PLC status to trigger the messages. With this solution it should be much easier for you create your project.... see Mitsubishi Intelligent Industrial Modem

Mitsubishi UK had a Modem Tool with name "MX Configurator MC" to configure and establish modem connection between programming tool and PLC. I think it wasn't for free, and i don't know if its still available...

Or you connect a Mitsubishi Alarm Modem MAM-AM / MAM-GM to the FX3. It will do the alarm and alarm acknowledge by itself. See MEU product link: http://www.mitsubishi-automation.co.uk/products/modems.html

Yes, we've done it with the Mitsubishi Industrial Modems, MIM-A01 and MIM-G01. See Mitsubishi product site: http://www.mitsubishi-automation.co.uk/products/modems.html and our startup document regarding System-Q remote access: http://www.tixi.com/fileadmin/tixi/images/...shi-SystemQ.pdf (Tixi HSM = Mitsubishi MIM-A01, Tixi HNG = Mitsubishi MIM-G01).

Hi Colin, what do you mean with "their ordinary modems" ? The Mitsubishi MIM-A01/MIM-G01 products ? These modems are sold especially for Mitsubishi PLCs, and are therefore 100% compatible. We have serveral documents with setup examples on our website: http://www.tixi.com/index.php?id=66&L=1. Attached is a special document with setup examples for Mitsubishi MIM-A01/MIM-G01 connected to a FX PLC. MIM_with_Mitsubishi_FX.pdf

I agree to fanfruk. If no RS instruction is active, check the settings of the modem. The data format of FX1N communication is 7E1, therefore i'd recommend to set the modem dip switches to this data format. Which AT commands are set in the westermo modem profile? I'd recomend to turn off compression, result codes and flow control. Try this command at PLC side: AT%C0"H0E0Q1V1S0=2&D0&K0&W0 We have some startup guides on our website, mainly for our own modems, but you'll also find commands for westermo modems: Check out: http://www.tixi.com/fileadmin/tixi/images/...tsubishi-FX.pdf
