  1. CX Programmer 5.0

It allows me to register but does not bring up any way to get to a function block library. Cannot figure that one out. Have also tried many veriants of Omron one website but get nowhere. Help!!!
  2. HOST LINK

    1) The unit required is 3G2A6-LK201-EV1. 2) Yes. 3) There are no other ports available. Why are you using this old PLC? Basically, from information I have from Omron in Australia the PLC is no longer supported. Better to upgrade to CS1G. Replace rack, power supply and processer. Has a serial port too but a different peripheral port. Only requires a cable - no host link.
  3. Finsgateway

I hear FGW is no longer going to be bundled with CX-P. That will be a bit of a pain.
  4. JAY IN DALLAS

He may be using some compression program similar to Winzip. I do not know what program saves a .cmp file but the extension indicates "compressed file". Try searching for compression or archiving programs on Cnet.
  5. Where did this come from? Whenever I have asked about a driver for this PCMCIA card that will work in XP it has been sorry, Win 98 only. Hope it works. Will be very welcome.
  6. CX-Programmer V5.0

Finally got it and am working with it. One small annoyance, I normally just use the internal symbol editor for a small (up to 5 or 600 symbols) project. Larger than that use Excel. The copy and paste function has changed. In V4.?, when you did a copy and paste, the _Copy appeared after the pasted symbol. Easy to backspace and change a number or several characters for your new symbol. Quick and easy. Now to V5.0. Copy and paste ads Copy_Of_ to the front of the symbol, most significant end. What a pain in the "A". Now I have to go "home" key and delete 8 characters at the most significant end and also backspace at the least significant end of the symbol and then add my additives. Have the programmers shares in Microsoft so tha we have to use Excel? Jay, do you have any information as to why this was done? Is there a very good reason or is it just the whim of a programmer? Auto adjust lines for names and comments in the printing functions is a BIG WOW!!!! I am sure I will enjoy finding many of the plusses and minuses of the latest version and also enjoy posting them here and waiting for the responses of all contributors to this forum.
  7. output address

WOW!!!! CX-P 2.0 is very old. Suggest you upgrade to CX-P 5.0. It is much better.
  8. CX Programmer 5.0

The link does not appear to work. Please try again.
  9. CX Programmer 5.0

I picked up my copy of CX-P V5 yesterday. The guy at Omron Australia tells me a web site is being set up for downloading of standard function blocks. I am not sure if this is in Ozz or somewhere else but will let you all know when I find out. Have not got time to figure all the FB whoooo haaaa yet. Will get to it one days (soon I hope).
  10. Connecting a Physical Switch to CJ1M

Output???? Id211 is an input card. You would normally connect your power supply to the common and then the normally open or normally closed to the input. You need to check whether the common on the switch can be + or - and then compare that to the common on the input card. If the common on the switch is +, the common on the input card needs to be - to give you a voltage differential. There are details about connections in the manuals.

There is a reply to this request on Phil's site.

I can understand it is useful for repetative code. However, I can use repetative code in ladder. Omron CX-Programmer allows you to save and import repetative ladder blocks. If using function block and it is written and commissioned properly, all is well. However, I was called in to trouble shoot someone else's program. Siemens also (my pet hate). The function blocks had not been commissioned properly and were, in fact, incorrect. Troubleshooting was a nightmare as there many of them to sort out. I can assure you that I wished for ladder that day, and a few more, like you would not believe. A really bad experience. Ladder would have been much easier. I have also been on both sides of the fence, and a few more, and still prefer ladder when in a maintenance role. I LIKE TO SEE WHAT IS GOING ON!!!
  13. AD003 setup

Maybe a stupid question but if you have a ma input you need to tie the voltage+ and current+ inputs together. Have you done this?
  14. CX Programmer 5.0

    True!
  15. Temperature sensor

Use RTDs and an RTD input card or transmitter and analogue card. That is my normal method.
  16. CX Programmer 5.0

The MCRO function works really well. It is not that difficult and once mastered is very easy to use.
  17. NTST communication problems

How are you trying to access the system menu? It is accomplished by touching 2 opposite corners of the screen.
  18. Omron, DeviceNet, DRT1-Com, GT1-AD04

Omron PLCs automatically allocate Device Net modules to memory. However, if the configurator was used originally to map the Device Net modules elsewhere in memory and the automatic allocation areas have been used for something else, this would at least create a conflict. I am not sure if this is the case but it would be worth checking out. Can you post the address range that is being used by the existing Device Net modules and then at least we would be able to let you know if the configurator was used.
  19. CX-Protocol

If you are using the CJ1, you can use the $LEN function to calculte the length of the string for use. I use it all the time for SMS messaging. Function 650.

  21. Omrom - PC communications C1000H

Have you set the DIP switch correctly on the CPU to enable the expansion functions?
  22. I need help with PLC I/O module

Ethernet and Controller Link cards are available for PCs. PCs normally come with an Ethernet card or on board Ethernet chip anyway. You would have to buy a Controller Link card for the PC from your Omron distributer. They are PCI cards. I/O modules are not available from Omron with Ethernet or Controller Link interfaces. Only PLCs have these capabilities. I think you are a bit confused here. Ethernet and Controller Link are both LANs.
  23. I need help with PLC I/O module

I normally use Controller Link, works better and gives more reliable peer to peer communications due to the fact that it is Token Ring and has redundancy built in as far as the controlling card goes. I am not sure twhether the question involves communications with a PLC processor or I/O cards. Pris, please clarify. Do you require a LAN to the processor or from the processor to I/O cards? If the former, Ethernet is fine from a computer to a processor. If you require fast relaible peer to peer communications very seriously consider Controller Link. If the LAN is from the processor to remote I/O, Device Net may be your best bet. Omron support Device Net as well as any other manufacturer, and better than most.
  24. CONTROLLER LINK QUESTION

Get hold of CX-Programmer 4.01 and upgrade it to 4.03. It has some nice improvements. You can compare programs and when you list a 64 bit word as integer in the monitor window, it also shows the 64 bits in binary. Very nice and getting better.
  25. NS5 cables

Buy a gender bender. They are very cheap.
