  1. Does anyone know of a formula I can use to convert differential pressure in "H2O to flow in SCFM. I have created a table of various flows vs. pressures, but don't know of a formula. I am using a differential pressure transmitter reading from a pitot tube. The transmitter can be setup to transmit the 4-20 signal as linear (pressure 0 - 10"H2O) and also has a Sqrt output. I am not sure how to get the data converted to a flow. If I try the standard y=mx+b, it only is accurate at one point, not full range. Any help would be appreciated.
  2. RTO maintenance.

Hi Ken, I work for a company in WI that manufactures and provides services on RTOs and all types of remediation equipment. Let me know what you need and I can provide a quote for you. Matt
  3. I also use Snagit to do my screen captures for operator manuals. I have found though that in order to keep file sizes down to a minimum, instead of saving the file as a JPEG, change the file save as type to PNG (portable network graphic). This will greatly reduce the size of the Word document and the image still looks nice.
  4. Thanks Bob....will give it a try today or tomorrow and let you know how it works out!! MK
  5. Greeting all, I have been using the PV+ 1000's for a little over a year now, and I always use numeric inputs to pop-up a keypad and enter setpoints, alarm setpoints, etc... The nice thing about these is that it is a confirmation in itself that you want to make a change. For example, you have to push the object, type in a new number, then hit enter key to change a setpoint. There is no way that you are going to "bump" the screen or be tapping the screen saver off and accidentally change a setpoint. Now: A new customer wants to be able to change setpoints via sliders. Anyone know of a way to do this? I would like to have the appearance be a small object that looks like a button in which the label would read: Inlet Pressure S.P. XX.XX" w.c. Then pressing the "button" would pop-up a slider. Move the slider, hit enter, new value is written to the PLC. Any clues? Many thanks in advance! MK
  6. I have an application built in RSView Studio, running in a PV+. Problem is this: When sitting in a secured screen, if auto logout happens, you are locked on the screen and cannot get out because the "return" button goes to a different secure screen. Does anyone know if you can write a small macro that will change the screen to a specific screen when an autologout occurs? Thanks
  7. Motor Control Design Question

When using the AB powerflex series ac vfd's we have always used the analog output from the vfd to the plc to see the torque which will correspond to airflow
  8. Prefabricated control room

We have been using pre-fabbed buildings from a company called Speed Space. They work out really great. We mount strut on the walls to hang VFD's, and mount all of our control panels and switchgear inside too. Comes with a nice Bard HVAC unit. Not really sure on what costs were, but they were very easy to work with. www.speedspace.org
  9. Versapro demo

I am in Western Wisconsin and use a vendor in St. Paul, MN. Powermation 1310 Energy Lane St Paul, MN 55108 651-605-3300 You can probably talk to a guy named Terry.
  10. HMI for Series 90-30

Good idea... Thanks for the link
  11. HMI for Series 90-30

Thanks for the info, Steve... I would have spent all day pulling my hair out to figure it out. I will get the chip and be off to the races!!
  12. HMI for Series 90-30

Hi all, I will let you know right off the bat that I am most familiar with AB PLC's and controls, but we have one machine in our plant that has a GE 90-30 in it. The problem is that the display went bad. Our electrical engineer was trying to put a new one in, but has since left the company. He was trying to put in a Maple Systems Blue HMI. P/N is BLU300M-002. I was told that he couldn't get the two to talk. Now, I have a IC693CPU311K processor and the only comm port is on the power supply. It is a DB15 connection. I can connect to the PLC with my laptop using a Horner SNP 232-485 adapter cable. But all of the documentation on the Maple Systems HMI cabling is referencing using a DB25 connection on the PLC. If anyone has any clues as to what sort of cable or adapter I would need, I would be forever grateful!! Thanks Matt
  13. I just received an email response from Rockwell saying that it is only possible to get the alarm history file out of a VersaView but not a PanelView Plus. Has anyone else tried to do this? It just doesn't make sense to me that the file is created, but you are not able to remotely access it. Our machines are shipped all over the country and we want to offer remote monitoring packages, which would include uploading and analyzing the alarm history data. It would be so much easier to do from the PV+ than to write a bunch of time/date stamping code in the PLC. Hopefully one of you gurus will have some suggestions!! Thanks, Matt
  14. Furnace Burner Control Safeguard

The company that I work for primarily makes thermal and catalytic oxidizers. I work with burner controls all the time. We always use AB PLC's to control our machines, but use a Flame Safety Programmer for all of the burner safety controls. In the past we always used either the Honeywell or the Fireye with no problems. But in the last year we have had about 8 to 10 bad Fireyes. Fireye has looked at these FSP's and said there is nothing wrong with them, but we continue to have unexplained "Flame Failures". When replaced with a Honeywell FSP, the problem disappeared. The only problem is, Honeywell can be a little pricier. We have started using Eclipse Combustion's Veriflame FSP for our programmers and really like them. Simple control, easy to wire up, etc... Hope this helps some.... MK
  15. DDE in RSLinx

Thanks....I kinda figured that, but thought it wouldn't hurt to double check...
